Data Region

Part of the MountDev Ops Workspace documentation. Updated October 9, 2026

MountDev Ops Workspace documentation | Updated October 9, 2026

Your data region is where your workspace keeps your company's data. The United States is available now; the European Union and preferred locations are coming soon.

Our Commitment

MountDev Ops is built security first. Your business data belongs to you, and you can export all of it at any time. We never use analytics or tracking of any kind inside MountDev Ops.

Every update passes all 1,445 automated checks before it ships, plus screen tests on 9 screen sizes for everything it changes.

Guaranteed Data Regions

Your data is stored in the United States, or in the European Union if you choose, in Cloudflare's guaranteed data regions.

  • United States: available now, and the default for every new workspace.
  • European Union: coming soon. It shows in the region choice, grayed out, until it opens.

In a guaranteed data region, your workspace's database runs and stores its data only inside that region, and your files are kept in that region's own file storage. Your records, history, Activity Log, search index, and files all stay there. A workspace in the United States never reaches the European Union's storage, and the reverse.

This guarantee is provided through Cloudflare's data regions. Services your company connects, and our support team, may process data elsewhere under our Data Processing Agreement.

Choosing Your Region

You choose your data region once, when you create your account. Today United States is the one you can choose; European Union and the preferred locations show as Coming soon and cannot be selected yet. Your workspace is made in your region the first time you sign in.

Where to See It

Owners and admins open Settings and find Data region on the Company card (Company Details). It shows your region and whether it is guaranteed. Everyone in your company can see it, and so can AI agents, through core.company.get.

The region is shown, never changed, on Settings. There is no setting that switches it.

Changing Your Region

Your data region changes only by a planned move, never by a switch. If your company needs to move to the other region, contact support. We plan the move with you and tell you when it will happen.

During a move:

  • Changes pause for a few minutes. Everything you can see stays readable. Anything that would change data (saving a record, uploading a file, downloading a file, which is always logged) waits, with this message: "Your workspace is moving into its data region. Changes are paused for a few minutes; everything you see is up to date. Please try again shortly." Email sent to your Helpdesk addresses waits too; the sending server delivers it again a little later, so nothing is lost.
  • Every record and file is copied and checked. Each table is compared row for row, by count and by a SHA-256 checksum, and each file by size and SHA-256, before your workspace switches over. If anything does not match, the move stops before switching, and your workspace carries on exactly where it was.
  • Your Activity Log says what happened: when the move started, what was copied and checked, and when your workspace started running in its new region.
  • Nothing is deleted. The copy in the old place is kept, untouched, as a backup.

Workspaces Made Before Data Regions

Workspaces made before October 9, 2026 are moving into the guaranteed United States region. Until its move, a workspace's Data region reads United States | Moving in soon. We tell you before the move, which pauses changes for a few minutes, and the Activity Log records it.

What Stays Outside Your Region

We want you to know exactly what the guarantee covers:

  • Identifiers for billing and routing: Cloudflare logs the internal identifiers of your workspace's storage outside the region for its own billing, and our routing keeps a small entry with your account number and your region (never your records) in the United States region, so every request finds your workspace.
  • Pages are served worldwide: your workspace's pages and files are delivered to you through Cloudflare's global network, so they reach you quickly wherever you are. Your data is stored only in your region.
  • What you connect: services your company connects (an email service, Stripe, an AI app) keep what you send them under their own terms and locations.
  • Our support team: when you ask us for help, our team may handle your request from wherever they are, under our Data Processing Agreement.

Preferred Locations Planned

Beyond the guaranteed regions, we plan to offer preferred locations: Asia-Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, South America, Africa, and the Middle East, listed as a separate group below the guaranteed regions. A preferred location is never called guaranteed.

We ask our hosting provider, Cloudflare, to keep your data in this area, and they do whenever possible. It isn't guaranteed yet, because Cloudflare only guarantees the US and EU today. When they add guaranteed support for your area, we'll offer to move you over, and the move is complimentary.

Choosing a preferred location will need an owner to check four boxes before Continue can be selected, each saved with your workspace (who checked it, when, and its exact wording) and written to the Activity Log:

  1. "Not guaranteed. <Area> is a preferred location, not a guaranteed data region. My data may be stored outside it."
  2. "Not for compliance. This choice should not be relied on to meet data residency laws or contracts that require data to stay in a country or region."
  3. "Depends on Cloudflare. Where data is kept is provided by our hosting provider, Cloudflare. If Cloudflare changes its locations, we will tell you and help you choose what to do."
  4. "Moving later. If Cloudflare adds guaranteed support for this area, moving there is a planned move we offer at no charge, not an automatic switch."

For AI Agents

AI agents can read your data region with the company details (core.company.get). No action changes it, for agents or for people.
