MountDev Ops Workspace documentation | Updated November 5, 2026
The Announcement Bar is one thin line at the top of every screen that shows short messages your company publishes for your team, and messages from the company that provides your workspace, one at a time, only to the people they are meant for.
Our Commitment
MountDev Ops is built security first. Your business data belongs to you, and you can export all of it at any time. We never use analytics or tracking of any kind inside MountDev Ops.
Every update passes all 2,992 automated checks before it ships, plus screen tests on 9 screen sizes for everything it changes.
What You See
When there is a message for you, the bar shows it at the top of every screen. When there is nothing for you, the bar takes no space at all.
- One message at a time, newest first. With more than one, small arrows and "1 of 3" let you move between them.
- A link inside the message opens what it names: a screen in your workspace opens in place, and another website opens in a new tab.
- A button at the end of the message opens its screen or website. A message can give its button several actions. With Cycle, one action shows at a time, and the next one shows the next time you open the workspace. With Fixed, the button always shows the first action.
- Close (the X) closes a message for you. It stays closed for you, and everyone else still sees it.
On a phone, or wherever the bar is narrow, the message comes first and its buttons sit on the next line, lined up with the message, with the arrows on the right. The bar fades in and out like the rest of the workspace and never blocks anything.
Release notes never go in the bar. They are in What's New.
Your Announcement History
Every message you were shown stays in the Announcements tab of the What's New panel, newest first, with its date and who published it, including the ones you closed and the ones that have ended. Search it by its words or by who published it. It lists only what you are allowed to see (action core.announcements.history).
Who Sees Each Message
A message is for everyone in your workspace, or for the people who hold a permission from Settings, Permissions, such as "Manage people and their roles". Whoever holds that permission sees it: the starting roles that have it, and anyone whose role or permission group allows it. If someone's role gains the permission they start seeing the message; if it loses it they stop. A person who may not see a message never receives any part of it, not even its words.
Another company never sees your messages.
Publishing an Announcement
Owners and admins, and anyone whose role allows Publish announcements in the bar at the top of every screen, select the Settings gear, then Announcements, then Open Announcements (or Announcements in the gear's list).
The Announcements page lists Your Announcements, each with who sees it, when it shows, its button, and whether it is Showing, Scheduled, or Ended (action core.announcements.list).
Select New Announcement to publish one (action core.announcements.save):
- Message: plain text, 1 to 140 characters. Required.
- Link words and Link opens (optional): both or neither. A link opens a screen in your workspace (an address starting /account/) or a website starting https://. Links to other websites carry UTM tags, so your own website reports show where visits came from.
- Who Sees It: Everyone, or People with a permission, with the permission chosen from the list. Under the list, it says who has that permission to start.
- Starts and Ends (optional): it shows from the start until the end. The end must be after the start.
- Button (optional): up to 5 actions, each with its words (up to 24 characters) and the screen or website it opens.
- With Several Actions: Cycle or Fixed, as above.
- Preview shows the message as it will look in the bar, as you type.
Select Publish Announcement to publish it. It shows in the bar at once for the people it is meant for, on every open screen. Each one you publish, change, or remove is in the Activity Log.
On each announcement:
- Preview shows it as the people it is for will see it.
- Edit changes it (action
core.announcements.save). - Remove asks first, then stops it showing for everyone at once (action
core.announcements.remove). A removed announcement is kept as removed, never deleted.
The Powered by Offer
When the Powered By line is available in your workspace and is off everywhere, the bar offers it to the people who may change your company's brand (owners and admins to start, and anyone whose role allows it): "Show "Powered by" and earn when a company signs up through it. Not now? We'll ask once more in 6 months." It has two buttons:
- Turn On opens the Powered By and Earn card in Settings, Brand, where you turn the line on.
- Keep It Off hides the offer for your whole company for 180 days (action
core.announcements.keep_off). Then it asks once more: "Not now? We won't ask again." A second Keep It Off ends it for good.
Turning the line on anywhere ends the offer. The line stays off unless you turn it on, and Settings, Brand works at any time either way.
Behind the Bar
The bar asks for what is meant for you each time you open the workspace (action core.announcements.bar), and that counts as a visit for a button set to Cycle. Close is action core.announcements.close. None of these is for AI agents or API keys: the bar and its history are each person's own, and an announcement is written by a person.
A provider's message arrives as an announcement message, and its removal as announcement_end, through the platform's own action core.entitlements.receive, which no person's role holds.
Messages from Your Provider
The company that provides your workspace can send messages to the companies it serves. Each one shows in your bar with your provider's name, for the people it is meant for, the same way as your own messages: one at a time, with its link and button, and Close for each person. It is in each person's history too.
- A copy is kept in your own account, in your region. It is read only: you can preview it, but not change or remove it.
- Who Sees It works in your own workspace: a message for the people who hold a permission shows to whoever holds it in your workspace.
- Settings, Announcements, lists them in a card of their own, From and your provider's name.
- Your account takes these messages only from your provider: a company that offered or gave your account something (see What Your Account Can Use). A message from anyone else is refused and nothing is kept. Every rule for the words, links, button, audience, and times is checked again in your account.
- When your provider changes a message, your copy changes. When it removes one, it stops showing at once, and the copy is kept as removed.
Sending Messages to Your Customers
If your company offers things to other accounts (Settings, Apps, Your Offers), New Announcement also asks Send To:
- Your team: the people in your own workspace, as above.
- Your customers: every account you offered or gave something to, or that applied to you. It shows in each one's bar with your company name, for the people chosen under Who Sees It in that account. Your own team does not see it in their bar.
Select Send to Customers to send it. To send to customers, a person needs both Publish announcements in the bar at the top of every screen and Offer, grant, and decide on entitlements for other accounts (owners and admins to start). Each one sent is in your Activity Log.
On the Announcements page, a message to your customers says Your customers in its row. Edit sends the change to each of them; Remove asks first, then tells each of them to stop showing it.
Messages to other accounts wait in a queue and are tried again until they go through; ones that cannot be delivered after ten tries are marked and kept, not lost. Delivery between accounts is turned on in a coming update (Planned); until then, messages you send to customers wait in your queue and go out when it is on.
Messages for Your Client Portal Planned
You will be able to show a message to the clients who sign in to your client portal, separate from your team's messages. They will be your own data, kept in your own account, and show once the client portal is part of your workspace.
