What Payouts Is

The Payouts page in Partners pays your partners through your own Stripe account: the one you connected for Invoices in Settings, Connections, Connected Services. Each partner sets up a Stripe payout account once, then each month's payout is sent to it as a Stripe transfer. Stripe keeps their bank and tax details; your workspace keeps only the account's id and whether it is ready. Owners and admins use it.

The Payouts Page

The page (action partners.payouts.overview) shows:

  • Tiles: payouts ready to send, what is in payouts and not paid, and how many partners are ready for payouts.
  • Payouts to Send: every payout not paid yet, with its month, amount, status (Pending, Ready, or Failed), how many tries failed, and Stripe's reason for the last failure.
  • Payout Setup: every approved or paused partner with where their payout setup stands (Not set up, Setup started, Waiting for Stripe, Stripe needs more details, or Ready for payouts), what Stripe still needs, and what they are owed.
  • Payout History: every transfer tried, sent or failed with the reason, and payouts marked paid some other way.

If Stripe is not connected, the page says so, and payouts can still be marked paid by hand. In Stripe's test mode the page says transfers are not real money.

Setting up a Partner's Payouts

  • Setup Link (action partners.connect.link) makes the partner's Stripe payout account the first time, and a fresh link to Stripe's own secure setup page. Send it to the partner. A link works once and for a short time; make a new one if it runs out.
  • Email Setup Step (action partners.connect.invite) emails the partner to open their partner page and choose Set Up Payouts. The email waits for your business hours. The partner must have opened their partner page first; if not, send their invite.
  • Partners can also start or finish setup themselves from their partner page (Partners and Their Page).
  • Check Status (action partners.connect.refresh) asks Stripe how setup stands. Setups that are not finished are also checked once a day.

Sending a Payout

  1. Make Payouts on the Partners page (or the run on the 1st) gathers cleared commission into each partner's payout for the month (Commission, Payouts, and Statements).
  2. Mark Ready (action partners.payout.ready) says a payout has been looked at and may be sent. Not Ready takes that back.
  3. Send (action partners.payout.send) asks you to confirm the amount and the partner, then sends one Stripe transfer from your Stripe balance to the partner's payout account. It is sent only when the payout is ready, the partner's setup is finished, and the amount is still the one you confirmed.

A sent payout is marked Paid with the transfer as its reference, its commissions are marked Paid, and the partner is emailed that it is on its way (in your business hours). If Stripe refuses (for example, too little in your Stripe balance), the payout is marked Failed with Stripe's reason, nothing is paid, and Try Again sends it as a new try. Each payout and try is one transfer: sending twice at once, or again after a lost connection, never pays twice.

Mark Paid records a payout you paid some other way, such as a bank transfer or a check.

Bringing Payout Accounts and History In

Partners' existing payout accounts and past transfers from another system can be brought in as data (action partners.import): each payout account only for a partner who has none yet, and each past transfer once by its source, so running it again changes nothing.

For AI Agents

AI agents can read the Payouts page (partners.payouts.overview). They cannot set up payout accounts, email partners, mark payouts ready, or send or record payouts: those move money and stay with people.
