How a Referral Is Credited
When someone opens your short referral link (from a Powered By line, or a link you shared) and then signs up, the referral is credited to you. The first click wins, for the number of days your program sets. A company is not credited to you when it is your own company, or when the program already had it (a client, a former client, or an open prospect) before your link was opened. You see each referral and its status on your Earn page.
What Earns Commission
Commission is figured only on what a referred company pays in subscription fees: each app's monthly fee and the monthly plan fee. Usage never earns commission, and neither do overages, add-on usage, costs passed through at cost, taxes, or one-time charges, whatever the invoice shows. Only a payment that succeeded counts, once its invoice is paid in full.
Your program sets your rate (a percent of subscription fees) and how long you earn from each company: a number of monthly subscription payments, or for as long as the company stays subscribed and you stay eligible.
The Active Partner Bonus
A program can add an Active Partner Bonus to your base rate (or base discount, for white-label partners). Your base never goes away while you are eligible. The bonus is on while you have added a qualifying client within the program's renewal window, checked every day:
- A qualifying client is a new referred company that goes on to pay the number of full months the program sets. It counts from the day it signed up, and while its months are still to come, your bonus stays on.
- A client that cancels before reaching those months never counts.
- A program can give larger partners a longer window, once they have a set number of paying clients.
- The bonus applies from a new client's sign-up day on. Earlier days are never changed.
A set number of days before your renewal date, you are told by email and on your Earn page, for example: "Add one new client by Oct 4, 2027 to keep your Active Partner Bonus."
Network Commission
When your program turns on Network Commission and you refer another affiliate who joins the same program through your link, you earn the program's network rate on the subscription fees of every company referred further down that chain, for as long as each company pays and each affiliate stays eligible. It comes only from real subscription payments, follows the same holds and reversals, and is paid the same way. Nothing is ever paid for signing someone up, joining, or recruiting.
The program sets a network ceiling: the most the direct commission and every level together can earn from one payment. Nearer levels are paid first. You see network earnings as totals per month and per level only, never another affiliate's account, clients, or contacts.
When Commission Is Earned and Taken Back
New commission is pending for the program's hold period after the payment succeeds, then it clears. A payment that fails, is refunded, or is charged back takes its commission back (and every network level's), from your next earnings if it was already paid.
How You Are Paid
Two dates, in this order:
- On the 1st, when your own monthly invoice from the program owner is charged, your cleared commission is applied to that invoice first (and to any older unpaid one), before your card or bank account is charged, so you pay only the difference, or nothing. It shows on your invoice as a Referral Commission Credit.
- On the payout day your program sets, whatever is left is sent to your bank through Stripe.
Commission that clears between the 1st and the payout day waits for the next 1st, so it reaches your next invoice first. If you have no invoice from the program owner, the whole cleared amount is sent on the payout day. If your program sets a payout minimum, a smaller amount waits as credit. Your program also says who pays the processing fees; when the program pays them, you receive the full amount.
Setting up Payouts
Choose Set Up Payouts on your Earn page. Stripe's own secure setup opens for the program owner's Stripe account and asks for your bank account and tax details. Stripe keeps them; the program owner never sees them. Until you finish, what is left after your invoices waits as account credit and is sent on the first payout day after you set it up. If you are in programs of two different owners, you set up payouts once for each.
Statements and Taxes
Each month on your Earn page has a Statement: commission on subscription fees, network commission per level, what was applied to your invoice, and what was sent to your bank. For questions about taxes on what you earn, ask your own tax advisor.
