MountDev Ops Meetings documentation | Updated October 22, 2026
People without a computer or a good internet connection can join a meeting by calling your business number, the same number your Calls app answers. Each meeting has its own PIN. Callers are heard by everyone in the meeting, show in it as "Caller ending 1234", can be muted or removed by a host like anyone, and are in the meeting's recording.
What You Need
- Calls, with your business number connected (Calls).
- Video meetings on, through your Telnyx connection (Video Meetings).
The Meeting's PIN
Every meeting gets a PIN of 7 digits, unique in your company, the first time its guest link is made or someone starts it. The Video Meeting card on the meeting's page shows Join by phone with your business number and the PIN (action meetings.video.get), so you can put it in the invitation with the guest link.
What a Caller Hears
While a meeting can be joined (its room is waiting or on, or it starts or started within 12 hours), your Welcome also says "To join a meeting, press 2." Outside Business Hours, the Closed message says it too, before voicemail. Any other key, or no key, and the call goes on exactly as any call: the Recording Notice and ringing, or voicemail when you are closed. When no meeting can be joined, nothing changes at all.

"You are joining the meeting now." The caller is in the meeting.- The PIN: typed on the keypad, followed by pound. A PIN that is not found gets two more tries, then "Goodbye."
- Agreeing by voice: a recorded meeting asks first: "This meeting is recorded. Press 1 to agree and join, or hang up." Any other key ends the call. The agreement is kept on the meeting like a guest's pop up agreement, under Recording Consent and in the Activity Log: "Caller ending 1234", the time, the notice's version, and "By keypad". The caller's whole number is never kept with it.
- The lobby: before anyone from your team is in the meeting, the caller hears "Waiting for <first name> to start the meeting" and your hold music (Phone), and joins on their own once someone from your team is in it.
- In the meeting: they are heard by everyone, and hear everyone, until they hang up or a host removes them or ends the meeting. A caller who is in the meeting when recording starts and has not agreed is muted (by Telnyx) until the meeting ends; they can call in again to agree.
A caller never rings anyone and is never put through to anyone's phone: the only place a call goes is the meeting itself, in the app.
How It Works, and What It Costs
A caller is put into the meeting's own Telnyx video room as a participant (Telnyx's Call Control bridge with the room's id), the same room the people in the browser are in. So the browser keeps its best sound, screen sharing stays as it is, and Telnyx records each person in the room, callers included, the same way.
Your Telnyx account bills each caller's minutes directly: the incoming call on your number (Telnyx's Voice API, about $0.002 a minute, plus the number's incoming calling charge, about $0.003 a minute for a local number in the United States), and the caller's minutes in the room like anyone's (about $0.002 a participant minute). That is about $0.007 a minute for each caller on a local number, at Telnyx's list prices as of October 2026; a toll-free number costs more. The caller's minutes also count in Usage as video meeting minutes, like everyone's.
For AI Agents
An AI agent can see a meeting's Join by phone number and PIN, and who agreed to a recording by keypad (without anything more than "Caller ending 1234"). It can never take or place a call.
