What Leads Are
Leads are people or companies who might become customers. Add them in Leads, or with Add Lead on the CRM home page. Their status runs New, Contacted, Qualified, Unqualified, and Became a customer.
Turning a Lead into a Customer
On a lead's page, select Convert to Customer (action crm.leads.convert):
- The lead becomes a contact with its name, email, phones, title, city, state, country, description, email opt out, and how they found you.
- The company: with Add the company ticked, the lead's company is linked: one you already have with the same name (in any case), or a new one with the lead's website, phone, and address. An AI agent can name an existing company instead.
- A deal, if you tick Add a deal: in the default pipeline at its first open stage, linked to the contact and company, with the name and amount you give.
- The lead stays in Leads, marked Became a customer and linked to the contact, company, and deal it became. Open Contact on its page goes there.
- Its activities and tasks are linked to the new contact and company too, so the customer's timeline is complete.
A lead can be converted once. If Leads or Contacts are turned off, converting is refused.
AI Agents
Agents can convert leads with the same checks. The history of every record it touches says AI agent.
