Search and Social

MountDev Ops Websites documentation | Updated November 6, 2026

Every page has the fields search engines and social sites read, and the website as a whole has defaults.

Each Page

  • Search title and description, the page address, and a preferred address (canonical).
  • Search engines: whether to show the page in search results, and whether to follow its links.
  • Social title, description, and picture for Open Graph and X cards.
  • Focus keyword: the words people would search for.
  • Structured data: Organization, LocalBusiness, Article, FAQ, Product, or Breadcrumb, filled in from Company settings and the page. Nothing is typed by hand.

All of these are set when you add or change a page (action sites.page.save).

The SEO Check

Check a page for search (action sites.seo.check) says what is good and what to fix, in plain words: the title is 30 to 60 characters, the description is 70 to 160, the page has one main heading, headings are in order, every picture has a description, the page links to your other pages, the focus keyword is in the title, the description, and the main heading, and sentences are short. Each page gets a score out of 100. See every page's search score (action sites.seo.overview) lists all pages with what to fix.

The Whole Website

  • See a website's search settings (action sites.seo.get): the default title pattern, the default social picture, robots.txt, and how many pages the sitemap lists.
  • Change a website's search settings (action sites.seo.save): a robots.txt you write is served as you saved it at once. Reset it to go back to the automatic one.
  • sitemap.xml is made for you: every published page, and no draft or page set to stay out of search results.

The 404 Log

When a visitor asks for an address that is not on your website, only the address and a count are kept. No visitor details are ever kept.

  • See the 404 log (action sites.notfound.list): each address with how often it was asked for, and the page we suggest.
  • Add a redirect for a missing address (action sites.notfound.redirect): it works after your next publish.
  • Ignore a missing address (action sites.notfound.ignore).

Search and Speed Numbers

Beside each page on the SEO screen, your own Google numbers show when you have connected the services in Connected Services. They are read with your own connection only, kept in your workspace, and never sent anywhere else.

  • See the numbers kept for each page (action sites.numbers.get): clicks and impressions from Google Search Console, and the PageSpeed scores for a phone and a computer, with which of the two services are connected.
  • Read the last 28 days from Google Search Console (action sites.numbers.search): one request for the website, matched to each ready page. Add the service account to your Search Console property as a user first.
  • Measure a page with Google PageSpeed (action sites.numbers.speed): the phone score and the computer score for one page. Measure Pages on the SEO screen does every ready page, one after another.

Both need an address that is serving the website. A person starts them: an assistant or a key cannot ask Google for you. When a service is not connected, the screen says so in one line with a Connect button.
