Test Emails
Send a Test sends the saved email to up to 5 addresses (campaigns.test). The subject starts with [Test], the merge fields use your own name, and its unsubscribe link only explains that it was a test. The editor shows the last test, who sent it, and whether it went out. Anyone who can write campaigns can send tests; AI agents cannot. A test to an address on your Do Not Contact list is refused, with the same words as anywhere else in your workspace.
The Confirmation Step
Only owners and admins send campaigns. Review and Send saves the draft, then shows exactly what will happen before anything is sent:
- the subject and how many people it goes to,
- the From address and the saved filter or list,
- who is left out and why,
- how many people are tracked (when tracking is on),
- whether a test was sent.
Choose Send now or Schedule for later (any time from a minute to a year ahead, in your own time zone), check "I checked the email and who it goes to", and select Send to or Schedule for the number of people (campaigns.confirm). If the number of people changed since you opened the confirmation, nothing is sent and you are asked to review again.
Business Hours
A campaign goes exactly when you schedule it, or at once with Send now, at any hour. It is never held for your business hours, because the time is your choice.
When that time is outside your business hours, the confirmation step warns you before you send, in your own time zone and with your closed dates, for example: "This sends outside your business hours (Saturday, 7:00 PM Pacific). Your business hours are Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM." On a closed date it names the date instead, such as "This sends on a day you are closed, Thanksgiving Day". The warning is checked again each time you change When or the time (campaigns.hours.check).
- It is a warning, not a block: you can still send or schedule at that time.
- Schedule for your next opening (such as Schedule for Monday, October 19, 10:00 AM Pacific) switches to Schedule for later with that time filled in, in one click.
- While the campaign is scheduled, the campaign list shows a small note (Outside your business hours, or On a day you are closed, with the time), and the campaign's page shows the warning.
Who Gets It
When you confirm, the recipients are frozen: the people in the saved filter or list who may be emailed, as you may see them. People who are left out are kept with the campaign too, with the reason, so its results show them. Each person is checked again right before their email goes out, so someone who unsubscribes, bounces, or is added to your Do Not Contact list in the meantime is left out.
How It Goes Out
Campaigns sends through your sending service in the background, about 120 emails a minute. Each email is claimed before it is sent, so nobody ever gets the same campaign twice; an email interrupted part way is marked "May not have gone" and is not sent again. A busy or unreachable service is tried again up to three times. Every email carries the one-click unsubscribe header (List-Unsubscribe and List-Unsubscribe-Post) that Gmail, Yahoo, and other mail apps use.
Each email Campaigns sends counts once as background work in Usage.
If the sending service refuses the key, the connection or settings are removed, or nobody has confirmed that the sending service allows marketing email (Campaigns Settings), sending stops and the campaign is Paused with the reason. Fix the setting, then select Resume Sending (campaigns.resume).
Unscheduling and Stopping
- Unschedule turns a scheduled campaign back into a draft; nothing was sent (
campaigns.cancel). - Stop Sending stops a campaign that is sending or paused. Emails already sent stay sent, nobody else gets it, and it cannot be restarted (
campaigns.cancel). Duplicate it to send it again to people who did not get it.
