Trash and Versions

Part of the MountDev Ops Files documentation. Updated October 15, 2026

MountDev Ops Files documentation | Updated October 15, 2026

Nothing in Files is deleted for good. A deleted file or folder goes to Trash, and a file saved again keeps its earlier versions, so anything can be brought back.

Trash

Delete on a file or folder, on the Files page or from the Network Drive, puts it in Trash. It disappears from every screen, search, and record at once, and its stored copy is kept.

  • A file in Trash comes off every record it was attached to while it is there. Deleting a file is action core.files.delete.
  • A folder in Trash takes everything inside it along: the folders inside it and their files. Deleting a folder is action core.files.trash.folder, for whoever may delete that folder.

Open Trash in Files' menu to see what was deleted, where it was, who deleted it, and when (action core.files.trash.list). Select Restore to put it back where it was: a file back in its folder or record (action core.files.trash.restore_file), a folder back where it was with everything inside it (action core.files.trash.restore_folder). A folder whose own folder is gone or still in Trash comes back at the top of Files.

You see in Trash what you may restore: files on records you may change, and folders you may delete. A private folder in Trash shows only for its people. Nothing empties Trash.

Versions

Saving a file again keeps the earlier one as a version: from the Network Drive, every save over a file keeps the one before. Open a file's More, then Versions, to see each earlier version, when it was made and by whom, and when it was replaced (action core.files.versions). Whoever may change the file can Restore a version (action core.files.versions.restore); the bytes it replaces are kept as a version too. An empty file's earlier version is not kept, since there is nothing in it.

Every delete, restore, and version is written in the Activity Log.
