Prices and Fees

MountDev Ops Invoices documentation | Updated November 7, 2026

Your late fees, the payment terms on your invoices, your usage prices, your Transactional Email price, and which of your products billing uses for each are your own settings, changed only by an owner.

Until you turn on your own prices, billing uses the built-in prices it has always used, so nothing you bill changes when these settings appear. You fill in your settings, compare them with last month, and turn them on when every invoice comes to the same cents.

Who Can See and Change Them

  • Everyone who runs billing (owners, admins, and anyone whose role allows running billing) sees your prices and fees, and whether your own are on (action invoices.prices.get).
  • Only an owner changes them, imports them, compares them, or turns them on or off (the permission Change prices and fees). Anyone else sees "Only an owner changes prices and fees."
  • AI agents, API keys, and connected assistants never change prices or fees: these actions are refused for them.

Where They Are

  • Invoices, Settings: the Prices and Fees card (what billing uses now, Import Prices, Compare With Last Month, Turn On Your Prices, and Use Built-In Prices) and the Late Fees and Terms card.
  • Subscriptions, Settings: the Usage Prices, Transactional Email, and Which Product Is Which cards.

Late Fees and Terms

  • Late fee: the percent of the unpaid balance added as a separate invoice the day after an invoice is due (when the due date is a weekend or US federal holiday, after the next business day). 0 means no late fees.
  • Repeats: how many days apart each next late fee comes while a balance remains.
  • Limit: all late fees on one invoice together stop at this percent of the original invoice.
  • Payment terms: the words printed beside the due date on every invoice, such as Net 15.
  • Late fee policy: printed on your invoice page. Leave it empty to print a policy built from the numbers above, or write your own.

Choose Change Late Fees to change them (action invoices.prices.save). Each late charge's line says its percent, such as "Late charge 1 on invoice INV-7: 8% of the unpaid balance of $1,000.00 on January 7, 2027."

Usage Prices

For each meter (storage, bandwidth, processor hours, and email sent from websites): what a website includes each month, what it includes on your larger plan, and the price for more. Billed from is the month whose 1st invoice starts billing usage at these prices, for the month before it; earlier invoices bill usage lines as written. With your own prices on, usage is worked out from each website's measured amounts with these prices. Choose Change Usage Prices to change them.

Transactional Email

The price per 1,000 emails sent, the monthly minimum for each sending domain (a share of it for a first partial month), and the month it starts. Each sending domain on your Transactional Email product is billed a month behind. A website you host sends under its hosting instead, and its Transactional Email line is not billed. Choose Change Email Price to change it.

Which Product Is Which

Billing finds these by your own products in Products, so the names your clients see on invoices are your product names: your website hosting products, your larger plan, your Transactional Email product, and your storage, bandwidth, and processor usage lines. Choose Choose Products to pick them. At least one hosting product is needed.

Import Prices

Import Prices fills your settings in one step and only fills settings that are empty; a setting you already set is never changed. A preview comes first.

  • Start From Today's Prices: fills them with the prices billing uses today, and finds your products the way billing finds them (action invoices.prices.start). Turning these on changes no amount.
  • Or a Prices File: a .json file with late fees and terms, usage prices, and the Transactional Email price. Products are always your own, chosen in Which Product Is Which.

Compare with Last Month

Compare With Last Month works out this month's monthly invoices and last month's late fees twice from the same records: once with the prices billing uses today and once with yours. It lists every invoice and late fee, the two amounts, and for any that differ, which settings to look at (action invoices.prices.compare). Nothing is saved, sent, or charged. Changing a setting afterward means comparing again.

Turn on Your Prices

Turn On Your Prices stays off until the comparison, run on your settings as they are now, finds every invoice the same to the cent (action invoices.prices.turn_on). It asks first. From then on, every invoice, late fee, and usage line uses your settings, and changing a setting takes effect from the next billing run.

Use Built-In Prices asks first, then billing goes back to the built-in prices; your settings are kept (action invoices.prices.turn_off).

What Never Changes Here

Nothing on this page makes, finalizes, sends, or charges an invoice, and no payment is ever created, confirmed, or changed. There are no weekly time invoices. Every charge still goes through Invoices' own safety checks (Payments With Stripe).
