MountDev Ops Channels documentation | Updated October 21, 2026

Our Commitment

MountDev Ops is built security first. Your business data belongs to you, and you can export all of it at any time. We never use analytics or tracking of any kind inside MountDev Ops.

Every update passes all 2,069 automated checks before it ships, plus screen tests on 9 screen sizes for everything it changes.

Where to Find Them

Owners and admins find Channels Settings on Channels' Settings page, the last item of its menu (action channels.settings.get).

Team Channels

The Team Channels card lists every channel, open ones first, with its topic, who posts, and how many messages it holds (action channels.channels.list).

Add Channel and Edit (action channels.channel.save):

  • Name: up to 40 lower case letters, digits, or dashes, like team-news. Two open channels never share a name.
  • Topic: a line under its name.
  • Who posts: everyone, or owners and admins only (everyone else reads).
  • Must be read: every new post must be read before anything else in Chat.
  • Private: only its members see it. Pick the members; you are added to a new private channel.

Archive (action channels.channel.archive) takes a channel out of everyone's list and keeps it, read only, with every message; Bring Back returns it.

The Chat Assistant

Change Settings (action channels.settings.save):

  • Chat assistant's name: what your team types after @, up to 30 letters, digits, and spaces.
  • Connected Service and path: where mentions are posted, like /chat/mentions. Add the service first in Settings, Connections.

How the assistant is sent mentions and answers is in The Chat Assistant.

Monitoring

Owners and admins can read every chat (off at first): when on, owners and admins can read every direct message and private channel, read only, listed as Staff Chats (Monitoring), and everyone sees "Chats are monitored by management" under the message box. Reading this way never marks anything read for the people in the conversation. Turning it on or off is in the Activity Log.
