What is NordPass Business?
NordPass Business has two parts, an Admin Panel where Owners and Admins invite and manage people, and the vault itself, delivered as a browser extension or mobile app. It stores passwords, passkeys, credit cards, personal information, and secure notes (October 2026). Its whitepaper says it is aimed at small and medium companies as well as large ones.
How are NordPass roles divided?
Three roles. Owners control members, policies, billing, and the organization’s encryption keys. Admins reach the Admin Panel and can invite, suspend, or remove members, but cannot undo what an Owner enforced. Users only see the vault (October 2026). Anyone can be promoted to Admin by an Admin or Owner. Zoho Vault has its own administrator delegation, which we set during onboarding.
Why does NordPass want two Owners?
Owners hold the organization keys, and account recovery requests land with them. NordPass advises naming at least two, so recovery still works if one Owner forgets credentials (October 2026). It is a sensible rule, and a single founder easily overlooks it. In Vault we set up a super administrator and emergency contacts during week one, then test the recovery path.
How deep can NordPass shared folders go?
Three levels. A top level shared folder can hold two more levels of subfolders, and each item can live in only one shared folder at a time (October 2026). Access to the top folder goes to people or to groups. That works for flat teams. If your departments overlap, we draw the Vault chamber layout first and check the import against it.
Can a NordPass item be shared with a whole group?
Not directly. The whitepaper says an item can be shared with one or several individual identities, but group access comes through a shared folder (October 2026). Four sharing levels exist: Can edit, Can share, Can view, and Can autofill. If your habit is sharing single logins with a team, plan folders around that.
What does NordPass time-limited sharing do?
It lets someone share an item with an outside party for a set period, after which access ends on its own. Only Can view and Can autofill are allowed on such shares. An item already shared with edit rights drops to view while the timer runs (October 2026). Handy for a contractor. It is also another setting somebody has to know exists.
What happens to a departed member’s items in NordPass?
Their items appear under a Deleted tab in the Admin Panel. An Owner can reassign them to an active member or delete them for good. If nobody acts within 180 days, NordPass deletes the items automatically (October 2026). That deadline is easy to miss when the person who left was also the one who administered the account.
Which NordPass features depend on the Enterprise plan?
The whitepaper names two. SSO is described for Business and Enterprise users, and the activity log API for pulling JSON records into Sentinel or Splunk is described for Enterprise users (October 2026). We could not load NordPass’s own pricing page, so plan prices are not quoted here. Check the current plan comparison on their site before you decide.
How does NordPass protect and host business data?
Encryption happens on the device using XChaCha20 with Poly1305, with a key derived through Argon2id. Business customers can choose US or EU (Frankfurt) AWS hosting. The whitepaper lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022, a SOC 2 Type 2 audit, a Cure53 audit, and HIPAA compliance (October 2026). It reads as a serious security program.
How do we move data out of NordPass?
Start with the Item Export policy, because Admins can switch it off (October 2026). Once an export exists, we clean it before importing. Duplicates, dead entries, and logins for retired systems are dropped, not carried over. Then we import to an agreed scope and date, into chambers designed beforehand. Expect two to three weeks for most teams, four to six for complex ones.
What does the license side of a switch look like?
Your Zoho license is billed by Zoho directly, and we add no markup. Our fee is management only. If Vault is part of a Zoho One subscription you already hold, there is no extra software cost. Your NordPass agreement is between you and NordPass, and we did not verify their current terms, so read the renewal date before you promise anyone a cancellation.
Does NordPass check our domain for breached credentials?
Yes. An Owner adds the domain to the Admin Panel, proves ownership with a DNS record, and NordPass then retrieves breach data tied to it, which Admins and Owners can review (October 2026). We do not match that with a Vault feature claim. What we offer is a monthly written review of weak, reused, and stale credentials, with owners chased until they are fixed.
Where do we draw the line on NordPass claims?
We will not hold your master password, keep your secrets behind an agency login, or call Vault the better product where it is not. NordPass is stronger on published certifications and on its log export. We also do not promise instant turnaround. Requests get a reply within two business days, and live changes are scheduled with you.
What stays with us after Cascadia takes over?
The Zoho organization, the subscription, and every secret remain yours, registered in your company’s name. You still decide who deserves access to sensitive entries, because that is a business call, not a settings call. We design the structure, run the reviews, and ask you for decisions. If you leave, there is nothing on our side to hand over.
