A Webex Messaging Alternative, Run for You

Webex Messaging is the chat half of a meetings platform, with spaces that hold up to 5,000 people and a free plan that includes unlimited messaging. The weight of Webex is in meetings and calling. Managed Zoho Cliq puts channels, bots, and links to your Zoho apps at the center, and our team builds and runs all of it in an account your company owns.

With Cascadia you get

  • Someone watching who has access
  • Channels people can actually find
  • API work where connectors stop
  • Built around how teams work
  • Your account, your history
  • Chat tied to your Zoho apps

Inside the Monthly Subscription

Webex bills licenses per host. Ours is a published monthly plan with a set number of hours, on top of your own Cliq license billed by Zoho. These are the jobs the hours cover.

  • Channel structure and rollout
  • Org, team, and guest setup
  • Migration from Slack or Teams
  • Audio, video, and screen share setup
  • Meeting rooms and broadcast configuration
  • Call recording and storage policy
  • Bot building and deployment
  • Slash commands and message actions
  • Roles, permissions, and access control
  • Usage reporting, user and license advisory, and monthly subscription support

Where Our Team Picks up the Slack

Both give you spaces or channels and file sharing. These are the jobs that come after setup.

Someone Owns the Admin Work

Webex lets an admin switch messaging on or off by removing licenses in Control Hub, and a change can take up to 24 hours to reach the app. Under our plan, a named team handles joiners, leavers, and licenses.

Chat That Points at Your Records

Webex integrations connect apps to spaces. Cliq posts a deal stage or a ticket update into the channel that owns it, and we build and test those connections against your Zoho CRM and Desk.

Spaces Get Tidied, Not Just Created

Webex spaces are unlimited per organization, which helps until nobody can find the right one. We write naming rules and archive channels that have gone quiet.

Where Webex Is the Better Pick

Meetings of up to 1,000 attendees on Enterprise, cloud recording, a calling product, and FedRAMP authorized security are far outside what a chat service offers. If those matter, start with Webex.

Who Should Read This Comparison

Teams That Picked Webex for Meetings Only

You have a chat tool you did not choose. If most work lives in Zoho, chat there makes more sense than a second place to look.

Zoho One Customers Paying for Chat Twice

Cliq comes with Zoho One. If a Webex plan is only there for messaging, it is worth asking whether you need both.

Admins Who Keep Inheriting Spaces

Moderators come and go. Without a routine, ownership of spaces ends up with people who left. A handover routine fixes that.

Choose Webex Messaging if

  • Large meetings and calling are the point
  • You need FedRAMP authorized security
  • Chat is a side feature

Choose Cascadia if

  • Your work lives in Zoho CRM and Desk
  • Nobody wants to administer chat
  • You want chat tied to your records

How a Move from Webex Messaging Runs

  1. 1

    Map Who Talks to Whom

We review your spaces, who moderates them, and which ones are still used. Many are not.

  2. 2

    Design the Cliq Structure

Channels, teams, guest access, and permissions are drawn up before anything is created, so the new workspace starts tidy.

  3. 3

    Connect and Automate

Zoho app connections, bots, and slash commands go in. We keep Webex for meetings if that is the reason you have it.

  4. 4

    Roll Out and Maintain

Everyone moves over, old spaces are archived, and the monthly plan takes over day to day administration.

How Webex Messaging Works

Webex Plans and Space Limits

Messaging is part of the Webex App rather than a separate product. These facts came from their own pages in October 2026.

The free plan includes unlimited messaging (October 2026)It also lists meetings up to 40 minutes, up to 100 attendees, unlimited whiteboards, local recording, and basic support.
Paid plans need a host license per personParticipants do not need one, and a paid plan can be cancelled any time in the account portal. The page did not list paid per user prices (October 2026).
Enterprise is by quoteIt adds up to 1,000 attendees, cloud recording, FedRAMP authorized security, and an included AI assistant (October 2026).
Spaces are largeEach space holds up to 5,000 participants, with unlimited spaces per organization and unlimited messages per space (October 2026).
Message and file limitsA post can hold 5,400 characters, a message can carry 10 files on desktop and web or 5 on Android, and files go up to 2GB (October 2026).
Retention follows policyStorage depends on the plan and your organization's retention policy. Deleting a space deletes its messages and files (October 2026).

Taken from Webex pricing and Webex App capacities. Checked October 2026.

Webex Messaging Alternative Questions

What Webex includes, what it leaves to your admins, and how a managed Cliq differs.

See Managed Zoho Cliq

Still have a question?

Is Webex Messaging a separate product?

Not on the pages we read. Messaging is part of the Webex App, and the free plan lists unlimited messaging alongside meetings capped at 40 minutes (October 2026). Cliq is chat first, with meetings and calls included.

What does Webex cost?

The pricing page we read lists Free at $0 and Enterprise by quote, and it did not show paid per user prices (October 2026). Ours is a published monthly plan, plus the Cliq license you pay to Zoho.

How many people fit in a Webex space?

Up to 5,000 participants per space, and members per team are capped at 5,000 as well. Spaces per organization and messages per space are unlimited (October 2026). Limits are not the issue. Findability usually is.

Does Webex have bots?

Webex for Developers documents a Messaging API. We could not read the bot pages in detail, so ask Webex about limits. In Cliq we build bots and slash commands for your process and test them with a small group first.

Who controls messaging in Webex?

Admins can turn messaging off by removing licenses in Control Hub, and the change can take up to 24 hours to reach the app. Removing a license does not delete data (October 2026). We handle comparable admin work for Cliq.

What happens to chat history in Webex?

Storage follows the plan and the organization's retention policy, and a deleted space deletes its messages and files (October 2026). We set retention in Cliq with you, and tell you what each Cliq tier can and cannot do.

Can Webex and Cliq run side by side?

Yes, and it is common. Keep Webex for large meetings or calling and use Cliq for team chat tied to Zoho. We would help you decide which conversations move.

Is there a Webex contract?

Their pricing page says a paid plan can be cancelled any time in the account management portal (October 2026). Our plan is monthly with no long term commitment, and everything we build stays in your account.

What Webex strengths should we weigh?

Meetings up to 1,000 attendees on Enterprise, FedRAMP authorized security, and a free plan with unlimited messaging (October 2026). Cliq does not match the largest meetings, and we say so.

How does moderation compare?

Webex spaces start unmoderated, and moderators can restrict who adds people and edit space details. Guests cannot moderate team spaces (October 2026). In Cliq we configure roles and what guests can view, share, and search.

Can you migrate from Webex Messaging to Cliq?

We plan the cutover, create the structure, and move users. We import the history and files that can be imported and rebuild the rest. Migration is a scoped project alongside the subscription.

Do clients and contractors get access?

Webex has guests, though they cannot moderate. Cliq supports external guest access to specific channels, and we configure and later close that access. Both options need someone to remember to remove guests.

Do we need our own Cliq license?

Yes. You keep your own Zoho Cliq subscription and own the account and history. We work in your environment as an administrator. Zoho One includes Cliq, which may make the license free to you.

When should we stay on Webex?

When your reason for Webex is meetings and calling at scale, and chat is a side feature. Then adding another chat platform may be unnecessary, and our plan would pay off only if your teams work in Zoho.
