What is Mattermost aimed at?
Its home page describes a platform for national security, critical infrastructure, and regulated enterprises, deployable in private cloud, self-hosted, or air-gapped environments (October 2026). That is a long way from a ten person agency, which is who Cliq suits.
How much does Mattermost cost?
No prices are published. Professional, Enterprise, and Enterprise Advanced are each by quote (October 2026). Ours is a published monthly plan, plus the Cliq license you pay to Zoho.
How are Mattermost seats counted?
A seat covers one activated user on a specific server. If activated users exceed seats, you buy more quarterly on a true forward basis, prorated (October 2026). Cliq licenses are per user through Zoho, and we watch counts for you.
Does every Mattermost server need a license?
Yes. Each server needs its own license, including federated, development, staging, and UAT servers, though a high availability setup sharing one database counts as one (October 2026). Cliq has no servers on your side.
What does Mattermost need to run?
PostgreSQL 14 or later is required, and MySQL support is being removed in v11 (October 2026). The page we read gave no hardware sizing, so plan with their requirements page. With Cliq, Zoho runs all of it.
Can Mattermost run without internet?

What about calls and meetings?
Mattermost lists group calls on your own calls server with roughly 50 concurrent users per self-hosted server (October 2026). Cliq includes audio, video, and screen share, which we set up with meeting rooms and a recording policy.
Does Mattermost connect to Zoho?
It offers a REST API, webhooks, and slash commands (October 2026), so a connection is possible. It is a build you own. In Cliq we connect Zoho CRM and Desk and keep the links working.
How does compliance compare?
Mattermost lists ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, FIPS 140-3, and DoD impact levels (October 2026). For Cliq, audit logging and data loss prevention depend on your Cliq tier, and Zoho One includes Enterprise. We say which tier fits.
Can you migrate us from Mattermost to Cliq?
Yes. We plan the cutover, import the history and files that can be imported, and rebuild integrations and bots. Run both in parallel for a couple of weeks. Migration is a scoped project beside the subscription.
Who owns the data after we move?
You do. The Cliq account, channels, history, and bots live in your own Zoho account, and nothing sits behind our accounts. If you leave us, there is no export to negotiate.
When should we stay on Mattermost?
When policy requires you to control the servers, you need air-gapped or federated operation, or your regulator names its certifications. Then Cliq is the wrong tool and our fee would buy little.
What will Cascadia not do for a Mattermost shop?
We will not host, patch, or tune your Mattermost servers, and we will not run both platforms indefinitely. Our scope is Managed Zoho Cliq. If you stay on Mattermost, we will say so.
