Discord alternative
A Discord Alternative Built for Running a Business
Discord is free for basic use and very good at voice and community. Its paid Nitro tiers, $2.99 and $9.99 a month, are personal perks like bigger uploads and custom emoji. A business needs central administration, an audit trail, and links to its records. Managed Zoho Cliq brings those, and our team builds and runs it.
With Cascadia you get
- Business admin controls, not perks
- Channels people can actually find
- Someone watching who has access
- Chat tied to your Zoho apps
- Your account, your history
- Offboarding the day someone leaves

Inside the Monthly Subscription
Discord charges nothing for basic use. Ours is a published monthly plan with a set number of hours, plus your own Cliq license billed by Zoho. These are the jobs the hours cover.
- Channel structure and rollout
- Org, team, and guest setup
- Migration from Slack or Teams
- Audio, video, and screen share setup
- Meeting rooms and broadcast configuration
- Call recording and storage policy
- Roles, permissions, and access control
- Compliance and audit logging with message search and retention
- Zoho app connections plus third party and webhook connections
- Bot building, slash commands, scheduled alerts, and monthly subscription support
Where Our Team Picks up the Slack
Discord covers chat and voice well. These are the gaps a business tends to hit next.
Paid Tiers Do Not Buy Central Control
Nitro Basic is $2.99 a month for 50MB uploads and custom emoji, and Nitro is $9.99 for 1 GB uploads and HD streaming (October 2026). Those are per person perks. We run central administration for the whole organization.
A Log with a Longer Memory
Discord documents audit log entries as kept for 45 days (October 2026). We configure Cliq compliance and audit logging, within what your Cliq tier allows, and tell you which tier that needs.
Chat Tied to the Work
A Discord server has no link to your CRM or helpdesk. In Cliq we connect Zoho CRM and Desk so a stage change or new ticket appears in the channel that owns it.
A Fair Word for Discord
For communities, gaming, and informal voice rooms, Discord is excellent and free. If that is your use, you do not need us.
Who Should Read This Comparison
Startups Born on Discord
It was free and everyone knew it. Now clients are asking for access, and nobody on the team can say for certain who can see which channels.
Teams with Outside Guests
Business chat needs a guest closed out when the engagement ends. A routine offboarding step is more reliable than trusting anyone's memory.
Zoho Shops with Split Chat
If CRM, Desk, and Projects are where your work lives, a chat that connects to them saves the copy and paste between tabs every single day.
Choose Discord if
- You run a community or a hobby group
- Free voice rooms are the main use
- No clients or records to protect
Choose Cascadia if
- Clients and contractors need controlled access
- You need an audit trail
- Chat should connect to Zoho CRM and Desk
How a Move from Discord Runs
- 1
Take Stock of the Servers
We list your servers, channels, roles, and bots, and mark which are alive. Dead channels do not come across.
- 2
Design the Cliq Structure
Channels, teams, roles, and guest access are drawn up first, using naming rules that last.
- 3
Rebuild What Matters
Bots, scheduled alerts, and Zoho connections are rebuilt for Cliq and tested with a small group first.
- 4
Move People and Close the Old Server
Everyone switches, access on the old server is closed, and the monthly plan takes over the admin work.

Discord Alternative Questions
What Discord costs, where it stops for business use, and how managed Cliq differs.
See Managed Zoho CliqStill have a question?
Is Discord free for business use?
Basic use is free. Its terms say Discord will not charge for basic functionality, and paid features are covered by separate terms (October 2026). Free is real, but it does not include business administration. Ours is a monthly plan plus your Zoho Cliq license.
What does Discord Nitro cost?
Nitro Basic is $2.99 a month and Nitro is $9.99 a month, with prices varying by country (October 2026). Both are personal subscriptions that raise upload size and add cosmetic features. They do not add business controls.
Does paying for Nitro give us admin tools?
Nothing on the Nitro page we read points to central administration. It lists emoji, uploads, profiles, streaming, themes, and Server Boosts (October 2026). Control sits with server owners and admins.
How long does Discord keep an audit log?
Discord's developer documentation says audit log entries are kept for 45 days (October 2026). For compliance questions, that may be too short. We set up Cliq audit logging and tell you which Cliq tier it needs.
Can Discord handle client and contractor access?
Roles and per channel permissions can do it. Discord documents a limit of 250 roles per server and a permission model of roles plus channel overwrites (October 2026). Someone still has to maintain it. We review guest access and close it when work ends.
Does Discord have a data export?
Its terms do not describe an export process and point to the privacy policy (October 2026). That matters if you ever leave. In Cliq, history, bots, and integrations stay in your own Zoho account, and nothing sits in our accounts.
Can I use Discord bots for business tasks?
Yes. Discord allows third party bots, and owners and admins control which are added (October 2026). We build Cliq bots against your process and test them with a small group before everyone sees them.
Does Discord connect to Zoho CRM or Desk?
We found no first party Zoho integration on the pages we read. Cliq connects to Zoho CRM, Desk, and Projects, through extensions or the developer platform, and we build those links.
Is Discord suitable for a company with clients?
Many small companies use it, but the terms are written for a consumer service. Users must be at least 13, and content can be removed for breaches (October 2026). Review that against your client contracts.
Can you migrate us from Discord to Cliq?
Yes. We inventory servers, channels, roles, and bots, and rebuild what is worth keeping. Message history that cannot be imported stays on Discord, so keep that server read only for a while. Migration is a scoped project beside the subscription.
Do voice channels have a Cliq equivalent?
Cliq has audio, video, and screen share, meeting rooms, and broadcast. We set them up and write the call recording policy. Discord's always-on voice rooms are a different habit, so try the Cliq version with a small team first.
Do we need our own Cliq license?
Yes. You keep your own Zoho Cliq subscription and own the account and history. We work in your environment as an administrator. Zoho One includes Cliq, which may make the license free to you.
Is there a contract with Cascadia?
Monthly, with no long term commitment. Cancel any time, and every channel, bot, and integration stays with you because it lives in your own Zoho account.
When should we stay on Discord?
When your use is a community, a hobby project, or an informal team with no clients and no records to protect. It is free and strong at that, and a managed plan would add little.
