Pushing code from a laptop straight into production feels fast until the one time it is wrong. Here every change goes through a pipeline into a separate development environment first, and each release is versioned. If a deploy misbehaves, going back to the last good version takes minutes, with no emergency rewrite.
Deluge is fine for a lot of work inside the packaged apps. Then you hit a nightly job that runs too long, a customer portal, a proper database, or a call to some system Zoho has never heard of. That is the point where Catalyst takes over.

A Deluge script that times out, a workflow that needs a real database, a process that must call three systems in a fixed order. We move that logic into Catalyst functions with error handling and retries, so a run finishes cleanly instead of leaving half the records updated.

It is a subscription in which we build and run your Catalyst environment. Serverless functions, AppSail hosting, data store design, authentication, links to your other Zoho apps, and the monitoring behind all of it are ours to handle. You get a team that already knows your project, so a change request does not start with a developer search.
Yes, and we want it that way. Functions, data store, files, and deployment history all sit in your own Catalyst project, under your name. Should you move to someone else or hire in house, there is nothing to export and nothing to negotiate. We never keep your work in an agency account that we control.
Not in the way the seat-based apps are. Catalyst is a developer platform billed on consumption. Plenty of Zoho One customers use it anyway, usually for the custom pieces no packaged app was built for. Send us your current licensing and we will work out what your setup really costs.
Functions run on Node.js, Java, or Python. AppSail also hosts apps in runtimes such as Go, PHP, and .NET. We work in all of them. If your team prefers one, or you already have code that does its job, we stay in that language.
Yes, and it is how many clients first reach us. We read before we judge: the functions and their triggers, the data store schema, and how secrets and permissions were handled. Then we list what is worth keeping. A full rewrite is the easy quote, and it is rarely the right call.
AppSail hosts whole web applications, as opposed to single functions. Reach for it when you have an app with a front end and routing, not a snippet that fires on an event. We set up the build configuration, runtime, environment variables, and custom domain so it holds up in production.
Yes, and for many clients that is the whole reason for Catalyst. Through their APIs it can read and write CRM, Books, Desk, Projects, and the others, which lets you build logic those apps lack on their own. We build and maintain the connections, down to authentication, field mapping, and the logs that explain a failure.
A modest set of functions and integrations typically reaches production in four to six weeks. A hosted application with authentication and its own data store takes longer and is scoped separately. In both cases you see working software early, because we deploy in stages and prove each piece first.
Alerts fire when a function fails, so we hear about it before a customer does. We already know the project, so diagnosis begins with context and not a discovery call. Retries and failure handling are written in from the start. Transient errors tend to clear themselves, and the rest reach us with enough detail to fix quickly.
Yes. Some clients hand us everything. Others keep feature work in house and have us run infrastructure, deployments, and code review. Either way we set up the CLI, SDKs, project layout, and environments for your developers, and we document what we build so nobody has to guess later.
Catalyst runs on Zoho’s infrastructure, in the same data centers and under the same compliance posture as the rest of the platform. The real exposure is usually elsewhere: credentials pasted into source code, permissions drawn far too wide, and test data sitting beside live data. Setup addresses all three.
We warn you before you hit your monthly hours. From there you can add hours in 5-hour blocks, move to a plan with more hours, or have a bigger piece quoted as a separate project at your plan’s project discount. Hours do not roll over. Monitoring and advice carry on whatever the building load.
Yes. Client portal and static hosting are part of the service. We set up login through Catalyst authentication, decide what each type of user can see, and connect the portal to the records behind it in CRM, Books, or your own data store. Anything complex enough to need its own front end usually runs on AppSail.
Usage, credits, and cost are monitored as part of the plan. A function stuck in a retry loop or a query scanning too much data can run up consumption without anyone noticing. We tune queries and timeouts, and we raise the issue with you before the bill does.
