Odoo alternative
The Odoo Alternative for Companies That Need Accounting, Not an ERP Project
Odoo is a modular business suite, and its accounting app is one piece of a much larger box. That breadth is the appeal, and the cost. Plans are per user, implementation and custom code upkeep sit outside the price, and someone has to decide which apps to switch on. Managed Zoho Books is narrower on purpose: we build and run the accounting setup, bank feeds, and reporting for you, and the account stays yours.
With Cascadia you get
- Accounting without an ERP rollout
- Migration from Odoo included
- Chart of accounts built around you
- Bank feeds watched and rules written
- Your Zoho account, your ledger
- Priced by hours, not by user

Inside the Monthly Management Fee
Odoo prices per user and lists implementation as a separate service. We price Zoho work by the hour on one monthly plan with no setup fee. Your Zoho Books subscription is billed by Zoho and sits outside our fee.
- Zoho Books setup inside an account registered to your company
- Migration from Odoo, with open items tied back to closing balances
- Chart of accounts build and cleanup
- Bank and card feed connections
- Reconciliation rules and categorization
- Invoice and estimate template design
- Recurring billing and payment reminders
- Multi-currency and multi-branch setup
- Financial report configuration and dashboards
- Month end close support and monthly change requests
What Changes When Accounting Stands Alone
An ERP asks you to model the whole company. A focused accounting setup asks you to model the books.
No App Selection Exercise
Odoo’s own pricing page asks you to choose between one free app and all apps. Zoho Books does one job, and we configure it to your business without a module map.
Fewer Moving Parts to Keep Patched
Odoo lists maintenance of custom code as not included. Zoho Books is hosted software, so there is no custom module to port at the next upgrade.
Cost That Does Not Follow Headcount
Odoo bills each backend user per month. Our fee is hours of Zoho work, so a seasonal bookkeeper or a new sales hire does not change it.
Honest About When Odoo Wins
If you run inventory, manufacturing, and accounting in one database and have a partner who knows it, Odoo is the better fit. We will not talk you out of that.
Who Should Read This Comparison
Companies That Adopted Odoo for Accounting Alone
The accounting documentation spans invoicing, taxes, vendor bills, payments, bank and cash, and reporting across more than a hundred country localizations. That depth is wasted if you needed a ledger.
Teams Paying per User for Light Bookkeepers
Odoo lists backend users as paying, with Light Users quoted separately at $8.90. Occasional users add up when each one needs a seat.
Owners Who Inherited a Customized Odoo
Custom code upkeep is outside the plan price. If the original developer left, every upgrade is a risk that Zoho Books does not carry.
Choose Odoo if
- You want one database for accounting, sales, and stock
- A partner owns your configuration
- You run in many countries with local rules
Choose Cascadia if
- You wanted accounting and got an ERP project
- Per user pricing grew faster than the team
- You want the ledger set up and watched for you
How a Move from Odoo Runs
- 1
Inventory What Odoo Actually Does for You
Before touching Zoho Books we list which Odoo apps are live. If sales and stock run there too, we say so and plan the connections.
- 2
Rebuild Accounts and Taxes Cleanly
Odoo’s localization package gave you accounts and tax rules by country. We carry over what is needed and drop what nobody uses.
- 3
Move Open Items and Tie Out
Customers, vendors, invoices, and bills come across. Totals are matched to your Odoo balances at a cutover date you choose.
- 4
Run Parallel Through One Close
Odoo stays readable while Zoho Books takes live entries. Once the first close ties out, you retire what you no longer need.

Odoo Alternative Questions
Per user pricing, what Odoo leaves out, and how moving accounting to Zoho Books works.
See Managed Zoho BooksStill have a question?
What does Odoo cost per user?
Standard is listed at $24.90 per user a month, and Custom at $49.00, both marked with a footnote saying the discount lasts 12 months for initial users. Other figures appear on the page without clear labels, so confirm your own quote (October 2026).
Is Odoo Accounting really free?
On One App Free, you can pick Accounting as your single app, with required dependencies like Invoicing included, for unlimited users. Adding a second app moves you to a paid plan (October 2026).
What is not included in an Odoo subscription?
Odoo.sh hosting, implementation and expert services, in-app purchase credits such as SMS or AI bill scanning, and maintenance of custom code are all excluded. Those lines are where budgets tend to grow (October 2026).
What are Odoo Light Users?
A cheaper license listed at $8.90, quoted through an Odoo advisor. Paying users are backend users who create, view, or edit documents, and employees without a linked user. Customer and supplier portal users are free (October 2026).
How does Odoo support work?
Email, Monday to Friday, 24/5, in English, French, Spanish, or Dutch. The page calls support unlimited for all paid plans. Phone support is not listed (October 2026).
Can I host Odoo myself?
Yes, on the Custom plan. You can use Odoo Online, Odoo.sh, or download Odoo Enterprise and run it on-premise. Odoo.sh hosting costs extra, and self-hosting makes backups and patching yours (October 2026).
What does Odoo Accounting cover?
The documentation lists invoicing, taxes, vendor bills, payments, bank and cash accounts, and reporting. It describes bank synchronization, localization packages for over 100 countries, and reports such as balance sheet and general ledger (October 2026).
When should we stay on Odoo?
When accounting is tied to inventory valuation, manufacturing, or multi-company consolidation in one database, and a partner maintains it. Moving only the ledger would break those links. We will say so plainly.
Can you migrate us from Odoo to Zoho Books?
Yes. We review your chart of accounts, move customers, vendors, open invoices, and bills, then tie the result to your Odoo balances at a cutover date. If sales and stock stay elsewhere, we connect them rather than rebuild them.
What happens to our Odoo customizations?
Accounting customizations are rebuilt with Zoho Books settings, custom fields, or Deluge workflows where possible. Anything that depends on other Odoo apps stays an open question we flag before you commit.
Do we need our own Zoho Books license?
Yes. The subscription is registered to your company and billed by Zoho. We work in it as an administrator, and the account and data remain yours if we part ways.
Does user count change your fee?
No. Plans are priced by hours of Zoho work, not users or apps. A large one time buildout can be quoted as a project at your plan’s discount.
Do you handle multiple companies?
Yes, within Zoho Books’ organization model. Odoo’s multi-company sits on its Custom plan. We look at whether you need separate legal entities or could consolidate before we set anything up.
How long does onboarding take?
Two to four weeks for most accounting setups. A migration from Odoo takes longer when stock or manufacturing entries sit in the ledger, and you get a realistic timeline before committing.
Do you do our bookkeeping or tax filing?
No. We manage the system so categorization, reconciliation, invoicing, and reporting work. We are not your accountant, and we do not file returns. Most clients keep their existing bookkeeper or CPA.
