Jetpack alternative
A Jetpack Security Alternative for What Happens Before WordPress
Jetpack Security is $9.95 a month for the first year and $19.95 a month after that, billed yearly (October 2026). It bundles backups, malware scanning, a firewall, and spam protection for WordPress. We do one narrower job: the edge in front of the site, set properly and checked every morning.
With Cascadia you get
- Blocked before your server
- Rules written for your site
- Caching and TLS included
- Checked every morning
- Nothing installed on the site
- One flat monthly price

What Ships in the Standard Plan Here
Jetpack Security gives you real-time backups, malware scanning, a firewall with automatic rules, brute force protection, and Akismet spam filtering. The edge settings in front of the site, and a person reading them, are not part of the bundle.
- Firewall rules written for how your site is actually used
- Rules for wp-login and xmlrpc set at the edge
- Bot protection and rate limiting configured, not left on defaults
- Caching tuned so logged-in pages and checkout still work
- HTTPS enforced and the TLS minimum kept current
- Nine settings compared every morning against what we set
- A change you did not make put back by us
- Nothing installed on your website
- 90 days of daily history, so you can see what changed and when
- Your account stays yours, and our access can be withdrawn
Where Cascadia Goes Further
Jetpack protects WordPress from inside. We set the rules that decide what arrives, and then check every morning that nobody has moved them.
Bad Traffic Stopped at the Edge
Scrapers, vulnerability scanners, and login floods are dropped before your server answers them, which matters most on a busy day or a modest host.
Rules Written for Your Kind of Site
A shop, a booking site, and a brochure site get different rules. Country and ASN rules are added only where they help, and only after we explain them.
Caching That Leaves Checkout Alone
Caching is tuned to how the site is built, so logged-in customers see their own pages and checkout keeps working. HTTPS is enforced and the TLS minimum kept current.
A Person Reads the Settings Every Day
Nine settings are compared each morning with what we set. A change you did not make is reversed and reported the next day.
Who This Comparison Is For
Jetpack Covers Backups, and We Do Not
Real-time cloud backups with 10GB of storage to start and unlimited restores are a big part of the plan. We do not back anything up.
The First-Year Price Is Not the Renewal
The plan is half price for the first year, then $19.95 a month billed yearly (October 2026). Jetpack publishes that plainly, and it is worth budgeting for now.
A Bundle Still Leaves the Edge Alone
Backups, scanning, spam filtering, and a firewall are all WordPress-side features. The edge settings in front of the site are a separate thing, and usually left on their defaults.
Choose Jetpack if
- You want backups, scanning, and spam filtering together
- A WordPress plugin bundle suits how you work
- The edge is already handled
Choose Cascadia if
- You want bad traffic stopped before WordPress
- Nobody is checking the edge settings
- You want caching and TLS set properly
Adding Edge Protection to a Site That Runs Jetpack
Jetpack keeps running. Nothing we do touches WordPress, so there is no plugin conflict to plan around.
- 1
We Read Your Current Edge Settings
We look at what is live and tell you what needs fixing, such as TLS 1.0 still allowed or caching that serves logged-in pages to everyone.
- 2
We Write the Firewall and Bot Rules
Login and xmlrpc paths, rate limits, bot protection, and exceptions for the tools you use. Risky rules are explained before they go on.
- 3
We Tune Caching and TLS
Caching is set to how the site is built, browser cache is set sensibly, and HTTPS is enforced.
- 4
Then the Daily Checks Run
Every morning the live settings are compared with what we set, and the monthly report covers the month just ended.

See Edge ProtectionStill have a question?
What is a Jetpack Security alternative?
Anything else that protects a WordPress site. Plugins such as Wordfence and All-In-One Security, cleanup services such as Sucuri and SiteLock, virtual patching from Patchstack, and managed services like this one, which configure the edge in front of your site.
How is Cascadia different from Jetpack?
Jetpack Security is a bundle of WordPress-side tools: backups, scanning, a firewall, brute force protection, and spam filtering. We work at the edge, before requests reach your server. We set firewall rules, bot protection, rate limiting, caching, and TLS for how your site is used, then compare nine settings against what we set every morning.
How much does Jetpack Security cost?
$9.95 a month for the first year and $19.95 a month after that, billed yearly (October 2026). That includes 10GB of backup storage to start and 10,000 Akismet spam checks a month. Edge Protection is $49 a month per domain.
Does Jetpack do anything you do not?
Quite a lot. Backups, malware scanning, spam filtering, and a 30-day activity log are all in Jetpack Security, and we do none of them.
Should I keep Jetpack if I use Edge Protection?
If you rely on its backups or scanning, yes. Edge Protection installs nothing on the site, so the two run in different places without getting in each other’s way.
Will an edge rule block my own customers?
That is what we plan around. Country rules and aggressive rate limits are explained before they go on, exceptions are written for the tools you use, and good bots are let through.
Will caching break logged-in pages or checkout?
That is the usual failure when caching is turned up until something gives, and tuning is how we avoid it. Caching is set to how the site is built, and browser cache is set sensibly.
What happens when a setting drifts?
You hear about it the next morning in a ticket naming the setting and its previous value. If the change was not yours, we put it back.
Do you need access to my website?
No. We work in your edge account through an invitation you can withdraw at any time.
Do I need managed hosting to buy this?
No. It runs as a standalone monthly service on whatever hosting you already use. It is also part of Domain Pro, at $59 a month per domain.
How quickly does setup start?
Setup starts within two business days, and the first full picture of your settings arrives within a week.
What if I want to leave?
Withdraw our access. The edge account is yours, and every change we made is recorded so you can see exactly what is in place.
Ready to look after what sits in front of WordPress?
Forty-nine dollars a month per domain, one flat price, with the edge configured for your site and compared against what we set every morning.
