Bunny Shield alternative
A Bunny Shield Alternative Where Someone Else Tunes the Rules
Bunny Shield has a free Basic tier, and Advanced is $9.50 a month (October 2026). It is a real edge firewall running on bunny.net’s network. What it does not include is somebody writing your rules and checking them every morning, which is the part we sell.
With Cascadia you get
- Rules written for your site
- False positives handled
- Caching and TLS included
- Checked every morning
- Drift put back by us
- Your account stays yours

What Ships in the Standard Plan Here
Bunny Shield gives you a managed WAF rule set, DDoS protection, bot mitigation, rate limit rules, and access lists in front of a bunny.net pull zone. Choosing the rules, reading the logs for false positives, and noticing when something changed are left to you.
- Firewall rules written for how your site is actually used
- Rules for wp-login and xmlrpc set at the edge
- Bot protection and rate limiting configured, not left on defaults
- Caching tuned so logged-in pages and checkout still work
- HTTPS enforced and the TLS minimum kept current
- Nine settings compared every morning against what we set
- A change you did not make put back by us
- Nothing installed on your website
- 90 days of daily history, so you can see what changed and when
- Your account stays yours, and our access can be withdrawn
Where Cascadia Goes Further
Good tools still need someone to make the calls. We make them for your site, explain the risky ones, and check every morning that they still hold.
Rules Chosen for How the Site Is Used
Login and xmlrpc paths, rate limits on the routes that get hammered, and country or ASN rules only where they help. Each one is written for your site rather than picked from a profile.
False Positives Caught Before Customers Do
Anything that could block real traffic is explained before it goes on, and exceptions are written for the tools you rely on, so the logs are not the first place you learn about a problem.
Caching and TLS in the Same Service
Caching tuned so accounts and checkout keep working, HTTPS enforced, and the TLS minimum kept current.
A Daily Comparison Against What We Set
Nine settings are checked every morning. If one moved and it was not you, it goes back, and 90 days of daily history show when.
Who This Comparison Is For
Shield Is Very Good Value
A free tier with a baseline WAF and DDoS protection, and Advanced at $9.50 a month (October 2026) with 255 WAF rules, 10 custom rules, and 10 rate limit rules. On price alone we do not compete.
It Starts in Learning Mode
Bunny’s documentation says every pull zone starts in Learning mode, and its quickstart asks you to review the event logs for false positives. That review is real work, and somebody has to own it.
It Sits in Front of a Pull Zone
Shield protects a bunny.net pull zone, so the site needs to be served through Bunny’s CDN. Edge Protection works in the edge account your domain already uses instead.
Choose Bunny Shield if
- You are comfortable tuning rules yourself
- Your site already runs on bunny.net
- Price is the deciding factor
Choose Cascadia if
- Nobody has time to read firewall logs
- You want to stay in your current edge account
- You want settings checked every morning
Choosing Between Bunny Shield and Edge Protection
If you are happy to read logs and tune rules yourself, Shield is hard to beat on price. If you are not, this is how we take it on.
- 1
We Read Your Current Edge Settings
We look at what is live and tell you what is wrong with it, from an outdated TLS minimum to caching that serves logged-in pages to everyone.
- 2
We Write the Rules for Your Site
Firewall, bot protection, and rate limits set for how the site is used. Anything that could stop a real customer is explained first.
- 3
We Tune Caching and TLS
Caching is set to how the site is built, browser cache is set sensibly, HTTPS is enforced, and development mode is kept off.
- 4
We Keep Checking
Every morning the live settings are compared with what we set. Anything that moved becomes a ticket, and the monthly report covers the month just ended.

Bunny Shield Alternative Questions
Straight answers about switching, pricing, and what moves with you.
See Edge ProtectionStill have a question?
What is a Bunny Shield alternative?
Any other way to filter traffic at the edge or on the server. Cloud firewalls such as Sucuri, WordPress plugins such as Wordfence, and managed services like this one, where somebody configures and watches the edge account in front of your site.
How is Cascadia different from Bunny Shield?
Shield is a product you configure: pick a WAF profile, choose a plan, add custom rules and rate limits, and review the logs. We are a service. We write the firewall, bot, rate limiting, caching, and TLS settings for your site in the edge account it already uses, explain the risky ones, and compare nine settings against what we set every morning.
How much does Bunny Shield cost?
Basic is free, Advanced is $9.50 a month, and Business is $99 a month, with Enterprise priced on request (October 2026). Each tier includes a monthly request allowance, with a per-million charge above it. Edge Protection is $49 a month per domain.
Is Bunny Shield cheaper?
Yes, by a wide margin. What the difference buys here is the work: writing the rules, handling false positives before they reach customers, and checking the settings every morning.
Do I need to move my site to a new network?
Not for Edge Protection. It works inside the edge account your domain already sits behind. Shield, by contrast, protects a bunny.net pull zone, so using it means serving the site through Bunny’s CDN.
Will an edge rule block my own customers?
That is the risk we plan around. Country rules and aggressive rate limits are explained before they go on, exceptions are written for the tools you use, and good bots are let through.
What happens when a setting drifts?
You hear about it the next morning in a ticket naming the setting and its previous value. If the change was not yours, we put it back.
Do you need access to my website?
No. We work in your edge account through an invitation you can withdraw at any time, and nothing is installed on the site.
Do you keep a record of what you change?
Yes. Every setting we change is recorded, and daily snapshots are kept for 90 days.
Do I need managed hosting to buy this?
No. It runs as a standalone monthly service on whatever hosting you already use. It is also part of Domain Pro, at $59 a month per domain.
How quickly does setup start?
Setup starts within two business days, and the first full picture of your settings arrives within a week.
What if I want to leave?
Withdraw our access. The account is yours, and the record of what we set stays useful whoever looks after it next.
Ready to hand the rule tuning to somebody else?
Forty-nine dollars a month per domain, with the rules written for your site, the risky ones explained, and the settings checked every morning.
