Where an Outside Watcher Helps
A registrar can only mail the people on its own account. We look at the domain from the public side, which is where a lapse or a lock change actually shows up.
The Warning Reaches Someone Who Can Act
Namecheap sends its notices to the account email and the registrant email, and says they cannot be switched off (October 2026). If both mailboxes belong to someone who left, our 60, 30, and 7 day warnings still reach you.

Does Domain Management replace Namecheap?
No. Namecheap stays your registrar. Domain Management is a daily check on the expiry date, the registrar lock, and the nameservers, and it works with any registrar. When it launches, buying and renewing through us at cost and having transfers handled will also be available, but nothing requires you to move.
Is Domain Management available now?
Not yet. It is listed as coming soon at $9 a domain, and it will be included in Domain Pro when it launches. Tell us which domains you own and we will list where each is registered and when it expires.
When does Namecheap warn me before a domain expires?
Namecheap sends renewal notices 30, 15, 7, and 1 day before expiration (October 2026). We warn at 60, 30, and 7 days, so the first warning comes a month earlier than Namecheap's first email.
Who receives Namecheap's renewal emails?
They go to the email address in the account settings and to the registrant email shown in Whois. Namecheap says they cannot be disabled, because ICANN requires them of accredited registrars (October 2026). If neither mailbox is watched, nobody sees them.
How long is the Namecheap grace period?
For most gTLDs it is 30 days after expiry, during which the domain can be reactivated from the account (October 2026). Some country domains have none. Namecheap lists .CH, .ES, .FR, .SG, and several others as needing renewal at least 12 days before expiry.
What happens to a Namecheap domain after it expires?
Nameservers switch to Namecheap parking, your site is replaced by a parking page, and email sent to the domain is lost, though stored website files are not affected (October 2026). That is why an early warning matters more than the grace period.
What does redemption cost at Namecheap?
If the domain is not renewed during the grace period, it may be auctioned, and otherwise it enters a 30 day redemption period. Recovery needs a redemption price plus a $0.20 ICANN fee for generic TLDs, handled through Namecheap Support (October 2026). Check Namecheap's price table for the current amount.
Does renewing late shorten the year I buy?
No. Namecheap says that when you renew after the expiration date, one year is added to the actual expiration date, not to the day you order (October 2026). You lose uptime during the gap, not paid time.
Does Namecheap charge for domain privacy?
Its help pages say privacy is free of charge on registration, renewal, transfer, and reactivation for domains that support it (October 2026). Domain Management does not sell privacy. We confirm that protection is on and that contact details are accurate.
Can Cascadia see if my Namecheap lock is off?
Yes. We confirm the registrar lock every day and send a message if it comes off, and we surface transfer attempts early. Fixing the lock still happens in your Namecheap account, which stays yours.
What does Namecheap require to transfer a domain in?
The domain must be unlocked at the current registrar and registered or transferred at least 60 days ago, and you provide the Auth/EPP code. Namecheap says a transfer takes 30 minutes to 8 days (October 2026). Some country domains have extra rules.
Do I have to transfer anything to Cascadia?
No. The checks do not depend on where a name is registered, and the domain stays in your name. Buying, renewing, and transfers through us are optional extras that arrive at launch.
Why not rely on Namecheap's four emails?
They are a solid minimum, and Namecheap is more diligent than a single reminder. They only tell you about expiry, though, and only the people on the account. The lock, the nameservers, and auto-renew status are outside them.
Is Namecheap the better choice for some businesses?
Yes. If you have one or two names, one reachable account owner, and a working card on file, Namecheap's notices and grace period may be all you need. We would rather say so than sell you a check you will not use.
Where does the $9 go?
It is $9 a domain, per domain watched, and the domain registration itself is a separate cost wherever it is registered. If you also want Managed DNS and Edge Protection, Domain Pro bundles all three.
