Nightfall AI alternative

A Nightfall AI Alternative for Teams Without a Security Department

Nightfall sells its Foundation Edition per user per year, through a sales-led proof of value (October 2026). It covers far more ground than we do. Content Guardrails covers one thing, the AI traffic passing through your gateway, and a person here reads what it catches.

With Cascadia you get

  • Nothing installed on laptops
  • Every request, not a sample
  • Blocked or flagged, your call
  • A person reads the flags
  • Profiles tuned to your data
  • One price per organization

What Ships in the Standard Plan Here

Nightfall gives your security team detectors, an endpoint agent, a browser plugin, and a success manager. Deciding what the alerts mean, and doing something about them, stays with your team. Here that part is ours.

  • Every request through the gateway scanned, not sampled
  • Card numbers, bank details, and ID numbers caught
  • Prompts checked, and the replies that come back
  • Blocked outright or flagged, whichever you choose
  • Flagged items read by a person here every week
  • False positives tuned out as your team learns
  • Nothing installed on anyone’s laptop
  • A monthly report of what was caught and where
  • A record of each catch kept for 90 days
  • Profiles that cover whatever your business defines

Where Gateway Scanning Earns Its Place

A narrower tool, run by people. The scanning is one layer; the weekly reading of what it caught is the part most small teams never get to.

Nothing to Roll Out to Each Laptop

Nightfall reaches devices through its plugin and agent, with endpoint coverage for two devices per user on Foundation. We scan at the gateway, so there is no install, no device count, and no laptop that missed the rollout.

Somebody Reads the Flags Every Week

Alerts that nobody reads protect nothing. Each week a person here goes through what was flagged, raises patterns with you, and quietly points out who keeps doing it.

The Rules Get Quieter Over Time

False positives are tuned out as they appear, so the profiles grow more accurate instead of noisier. You do not need a detection engineer for that.

A Price You Can See Today

Nightfall quotes per user per year after a conversation. Ours is on the page: $49 a month per organization, plus AI Gateway at $79.

Who This Comparison Is For

Nightfall Covers More Ground

SaaS apps, email, endpoints, browsers, and coding tools on its Premier Edition. If you need all of that, Nightfall is the stronger choice, and we would say so.

Redaction in the Browser Is Theirs

Nightfall’s ChatGPT plugin redacts sensitive text before the prompt is submitted. We block or flag at the gateway instead, which suits traffic from applications rather than a chat window.

Small Teams Rarely Use Half of It

A twelve-person business usually needs card numbers and ID numbers kept out of its AI tools, and someone to tell it when that nearly happened.

Choose Nightfall AI if

  • You need SaaS, email, and devices covered too
  • You want prompts redacted inside the browser
  • You have a security team to run it

Choose Cascadia if

  • Nobody on staff owns data security
  • Your AI traffic runs through applications
  • You want a person reading the flags

Adding Gateway Scanning Next to Nightfall in Four Steps

Most of this is ours. Your part is pointing each application at the gateway endpoint, which is a setting rather than a project.

  1. 1

We Start with What Counts as Sensitive Here

Card numbers, bank details, ID numbers, and anything particular to your business. We also note what your Nightfall detectors catch today, so nothing slips through when the two overlap.

  2. 2

We Switch on Scanning at the Gateway

The predefined financial and identifier profiles go on first, then get tuned to your data. Each match is set to block or to flag, according to what you choose.

  3. 3

We Read the First Week of Flags

A person goes through every flagged item, tunes out false positives, and raises anything that looks like a pattern. The first full picture arrives within a week.

  4. 4

You Decide What Nightfall Keeps Doing

Some teams keep Nightfall for SaaS and devices and let us watch the AI traffic. Others find the gateway was the piece they needed. The monthly report helps you make that call.

Still have a question?

What is a Nightfall AI alternative?

Anything else that stops sensitive data reaching AI tools. That covers other data loss prevention platforms such as Strac and Microsoft Purview, browser and device tools such as Harmonic Security and dope.security, and managed services like this one, where scanning runs at the gateway and a person reads what it finds.

How is Cascadia different from Nightfall AI?

Nightfall sells a platform your team operates: detectors, a browser plugin, an endpoint agent, and integrations with SaaS apps. We sell scanning at the AI gateway plus the people who read it. One is wider. The other comes with somebody doing the reading.

Is Nightfall more capable than this?

Across the whole business, yes. Nightfall reaches SaaS apps, email, endpoints, and browsers, and its Premier Edition adds hooks for coding tools. Content Guardrails covers AI traffic through the gateway and nothing else. If you need the breadth, buy Nightfall.

What does Nightfall cost?

Nightfall prices Foundation per user per year but does not publish the figure, and it runs a free seven day proof of value before you buy (October 2026). Ours is $49 a month per organization, plus AI Gateway at $79.

Does this need AI Gateway?

Yes. The scanning happens inside AI Gateway, so on its own Content Guardrails has nothing to read. AI Gateway is $79 a month per organization and Content Guardrails is $49 on top of it. If you want both along with Managed MCP for five people, AI Pro bundles the three for $189 a month. Nightfall prices its product separately, so the honest comparison is against the two of ours together.

Nightfall redacts prompts. Do you?

No. Nightfall’s plugin strips sensitive text out of a ChatGPT prompt before it is sent. We block the request or let it through and flag it, your choice. Blocking is the safer setting; flagging is easier to live with while people adjust.

Can we run both?

Yes, and some teams should. Nightfall on devices and SaaS, Content Guardrails on the gateway, with a person here reading the AI side each week. They do not get in each other’s way.

What do you install on our side?

Nothing on anyone’s machine. Your applications point at the gateway endpoint, and your staff carry on using the tools they already use.

What happens to an item that gets flagged?

A person here reads it that week. Patterns come to you in words rather than as a count, repeat offenders are surfaced quietly, and false positives are tuned out so next week is less noisy.

Do you keep a record of what was caught?

Yes. What was caught, when, and from which application, kept for 90 days. The content itself is held only as long as you want it to be.

How long before we see results?

Setup starts within two business days, and the first full picture arrives within a week.

What if we want to leave?

Point your applications back at the providers directly and the scanning stops. The records of what was caught are yours, and we hand them over rather than hold on to them.
