SMS-Magic alternative
What You Get Instead Of Running SMS-Magic Yourself
With Cascadia you get
The short version
What you get here instead of SMS-Magic
Most texting tools for Zoho Desk work the same way. You install a connector, and your contact and account records start flowing out to somebody else’s platform so their application can send the message and hold the thread.

Where the service earns its keep
The exchange an escalation later gets judged on now lives outside your help desk. This extension takes the opposite approach and never sends anything back to us.
Two way, not one way
Your help desk already holds conversations, just not over text. This one captures the reply.
Your Twilio, your rates
You connect your own Twilio account, so message costs are billed to you at Twilio prices with nobody in the middle taking a cut.
Personalized at any volume
Dynamic text pulls values out of the record as each message is sent.
Every number, not just one
Records rarely hold a single phone number. The extension detects every phone field on a contact or account, including custom ones, and lets you choose which to text.
Who this comparison is for
Teams working under strict data rules
Support desks hold the details a customer would least like copied elsewhere. Account numbers and whatever they typed into the ticket while they were frustrated. Here the answer to where that goes is short. It goes nowhere.
Zoho admins who own the whole stack
One more extension in the marketplace, installed the same way as everything else you run.
Support teams working urgent tickets
A text gets read faster than an email and people actually answer it.
How the Zoho Desk SMS integration works
Four steps, and none of them involve standing anything up. You install the extension from the Zoho Marketplace, connect your Twilio credentials, and start texting from a record.
- 1
We assess your current setup
First we look at how things run today: what you already pay for, what is configured where, and which parts are actually causing you trouble.
- 2
Install from the Zoho Marketplace
There is a ten day free trial, so you can put it through real work before deciding. Nothing is hosted anywhere else, no server needs provisioning, and the SMS History module appears in Zoho Desk ready to use.
- 3
Connect your own Twilio account
Because the account is yours, message charges are billed to you at Twilio rates and your delivery records stay in your own console.
- 4
Text a record and watch the reply land
Select several records to send in bulk, or schedule it for later. Every reply is written back to SMS History against the person who sent it.

The difference that matters
No second account, no second system
Both options give you two-way texting on your Zoho Desk records, and on paper the feature lists look similar. The difference is architectural. SMS-Magic is a messaging platform you sign up for, and your conversations run through it. Ours is built in Deluge and runs inside your own Zoho account against your own Twilio credentials, so there is no SMS-Magic account to hold, no vendor dashboard to log into, and no copy of your customer data anywhere but Zoho.
If your objection to texting from Zoho Desk has ever been “who else ends up holding this data”, that is the question this answers.
How SMS-Magic works
What SMS-Magic does, in their own words
SMS-Magic is a messaging platform from Screen-Magic that plugs into Zoho through the Marketplace. Here is what their own documentation says it does.
