This Zoho Projects SMS integration lets your team text client contacts and accounts from the record they are already looking at, using your own Twilio account. Send one message or send to a whole list, and every reply lands back on the record in SMS History. It runs entirely inside your Zoho environment, written in Deluge, with no external dashboard and nothing reported back to us.

Built for teams that actually reply
Most texting tools for Zoho work the same way. You install a connector, and your customer data starts flowing out to somebody else's platform so their application can send the message and hold the thread. That is a second copy of your account list, living somewhere you do not control. This extension takes the opposite approach and never sends anything back to us.
Your records, your phone numbers, and your message content never leave your Zoho environment. We hold no copy and run no dashboard on our side. There is nothing for us to lose in a breach and nothing for you to ask us to delete, because we were never holding it.
Portal updates only reach the people who log in to read them. This one captures the reply. When a client texts back, the message is written into SMS History against their record, so the exchange reads as a conversation rather than a notification nobody was able to answer.
You connect your own Twilio account, so message costs are billed to you at Twilio prices with nobody in the middle taking a cut. Your numbers stay yours, your delivery logs stay in your console, and you can move providers without asking our permission first.
Dynamic text pulls values out of the record as each message is sent. Names, project references, or anything else on the contact or account populates automatically, so a message going to fifty client contacts still reads like it was written for one of them.
Messages are stored against the contact or account rather than against a single project. One engagement wraps up and the next one starts, and the whole thread stays in one place, so whoever picks up that account in six months can read what was said without piecing it together.
In your Zoho versus on their platform
Plenty of SMS apps plug into Zoho and most of them work. The difference is where your customer data ends up and who else can read it. These are the six places that choice shows up in practice, from what you pay to what you have to explain to a security reviewer.

Everything runs in your own Zoho Projects deployment. Most alternatives sync your contacts and accounts out to their platform first, which creates a second copy of your client list on infrastructure you do not own and cannot audit.
You bring your own Twilio account and pay Twilio directly at their published rates. Resold messaging buries the carrier cost inside a per message price you cannot see through, and leaving usually means giving up your numbers.
Ten dollars a month covers your whole organization. Per seat pricing charges you more for adding the people who most need to send, so the bill grows every time the team does, whether or not anybody sends more messages.
Inbound messages are logged against the contact or account automatically. A separate messaging inbox means somebody has to keep two systems in agreement, and the project record ends up telling half the story to whoever reads it next.
We cannot read your messages because we never receive them. A vendor hosted tool holds your contact list and your message content by design, which becomes a conversation with your security reviewer sooner or later.
The extension is written on the Zoho platform itself. Embedded interfaces load somebody else's application inside your project tool, which adds a dependency, another login, and a support boundary nobody asked for when something breaks.
Who this is for
Texting from your project tool matters most when the reply matters. If an update can wait for the next time a client opens the portal, the portal is probably enough. If people write back and somebody has to act on what they said, the conversation needs to live on the record where the next person will look for it.

Getting started
Three steps, and none of them involve standing anything up. You install the extension from the Zoho Marketplace, connect your Twilio credentials, and start texting from a record. Everything after that happens in screens your team already knows how to use.
1
Find the extension on the Zoho Marketplace and install it into your organization the same way you would any other. There is a ten day free trial, so you can put it through real work before deciding. Nothing is hosted anywhere else, no server needs provisioning, and the SMS History module appears in Zoho Projects ready to use.
2
Paste your Twilio credentials into the setup screen and pick the numbers you want to send from. Because the account is yours, message charges are billed to you at Twilio rates and your delivery records stay in your own console. Different teams or brands can send from different numbers, so replies reach whoever should be handling them.
3
Open a contact or account, pick a number, and send. Use a saved template if it is a message you send often, and dynamic fields fill in the details from the record. Select several records to send in bulk, or schedule it for later. Every reply is written back to SMS History against the person who sent it.

I can't say enough about how grateful I am to [Cascadia] for helping me resolve my tech problems. I was in a real bind, and [they] calmly and cooly fixed the problem--something two other tech support folks could not do. [They are] gonna be my go-to from now on.
