Most HR work goes wrong in the gaps, the onboarding step nobody owns, the leave balance calculated by hand, the timesheet that never reaches payroll. Managed Zoho People puts employee records, onboarding, attendance, leave, timesheets, and reviews in one system we configure and run for you. We build your policies into the software, connect it to payroll, and keep it correct as your headcount and rules change.

HR that runs on rules, not reminders
HR software is bought to end an argument about leave balances and frequently inherits it instead. Your handbook states the carry-over cap in one sentence. The system needs it expressed exactly, alongside pro-rata rules, mid-year contract changes and every awkward case nobody thought about in advance. Get one wrong and an employee finds it before you do.
So the configuration is tested against real cases before anybody relies on it, including the ones that only happen twice a year. Onboarding runs as a sequence with named owners rather than a checklist somebody remembers. Permissions are reviewed when people change role, not only when they leave. And when the policies change, the system changes with them rather than drifting into a state that nobody can reconcile against the handbook.
Your leave rules are not the ones in the setup wizard. We build your accrual schedules, carryover caps, waiting periods, and approval chains into the system, then test them against real scenarios before an employee ever sees a balance. Configuration is where HR software either works or quietly fails.
A new hire should not depend on somebody remembering eleven steps. We build the flow so acceptance triggers the paperwork, the equipment request, the account setup, and the manager checklist, each with an owner and a due date. You see where a hire is stuck instead of finding out in week three.
Attendance and leave only matter if they arrive at payroll correctly. We connect Zoho People to Zoho Payroll and Books, map approved hours and deductions, and check that mapping each cycle rather than assuming a policy change did not break it. Nobody retypes hours into a spreadsheet.
HR holds the most sensitive data in your company, so defaults are not good enough. We configure roles so managers see their own team and nothing further, restrict compensation and medical fields, and set document sharing deliberately. You decide who sees what, and it gets written down.
Every employee record, document, and workflow lives inside your own Zoho subscription under your company name. Nothing sits behind an agency account, so there is no export to negotiate and no leverage held over you. If you bring this back in house, it is already yours.
An HR system on its own cannot see the rest of the business. We link People to Zoho Recruit so a hire becomes an employee record without rekeying, tie it to CRM where staffing drives commissions, and push headcount and turnover into Zoho Analytics for reporting.
Why teams stop doing this alone
Anybody can build employee records and a leave request form. Writing rules that still reconcile at year end, keeping onboarding from dropping steps, and holding permissions tight through role changes is a different job, and it is the part that usually gets postponed. Here is how the two approaches compare.

On your own, leave rules get built once from the setup wizard and the errors surface at year end when balances do not reconcile. We build accruals, caps, and waiting periods against your written policy, then test them on real scenarios before anybody relies on a number.
A checklist in a document works until the person who maintains it is on vacation. Automated onboarding assigns every task with an owner and a due date, so a missed equipment request shows up as an open item rather than a surprise on somebody's first morning.
Collecting hours by email and reminder is a job nobody wants and everybody does badly. Timesheets with approval routing and automatic reminders close on schedule, and the approved hours move through to payroll and invoicing without anybody transcribing them.
Permissions set once during setup drift as people change roles, and managers end up seeing salaries they should not. We configure the role model deliberately, document it, and revisit it when your structure changes rather than after somebody notices.
An HR system alone has no view of recruiting, accounting, or customer work. We manage the wider Zoho environment, so when an HR problem turns out to be a payroll mapping problem, we say so, and we flag when Zoho One costs less than adding apps one by one.
Hourly help makes every small policy change feel expensive, so people stop asking and the configuration slowly goes stale. A flat monthly rate makes the cost predictable and puts the incentive on us to keep the system current rather than to bill hours.
Built for teams past the spreadsheet
An HR system starts paying once informal stops working, usually somewhere past twenty employees or the first hire in a second state. If you are tracking leave in a spreadsheet, onboarding from a checklist, or running hourly staff on an honor system, this is usually the fix. The ceiling arrives when payroll, projects and the general ledger all need the same employee record. At that point a people system sitting beside your ERP costs you a sync to maintain, and staff records held inside the ERP itself is where most companies end up.

How we work with you
Whether you are moving off spreadsheets or inheriting a Zoho People account somebody configured two years ago, the sequence is the same. We get the records and the daily use right first, then the policies, then everything else. Most clients have their people using the system within a month.
1
We start with what you have, whether that is spreadsheets, another HR system, or a half configured Zoho account. Employee records, org structure, and current leave balances get mapped and loaded so history comes across rather than everyone starting at zero. We check the result against your own records before anybody relies on it, because a balance that is wrong by two days costs more trust than the migration saved.
2
Next come the rules that make the system yours, meaning leave accruals and caps, holiday calendars and work weeks, attendance and shift patterns, onboarding and offboarding flows, and the permission model that decides who sees what. We test each one against real scenarios, then turn on self service so employees handle their own requests instead of emailing HR.
3
From there you get the ongoing work, meaning policy changes configured when you make them, new hires and exits running through the workflows, payroll mapping checked every cycle, and a monthly summary of headcount, turnover, leave liability, and anything still open. You send priorities and we build them into the following month.

Running more than one Zoho app? The Zoho One bundle covers every app under one monthly plan instead of stacking separate app subscriptions on top of each other.
