What Managed Frappe Education Covers
Installing the Education app takes an afternoon. What takes longer is the part that decides whether your registrar still trusts the system in year two: the academic year and term structure, the fee categories that match how you actually bill, and the accounting underneath all of it. Frappe Education is a module on a full ERPNext deployment, so that groundwork belongs in the project rather than in a later phase.
So the build starts with your calendar and your fee structure rather than with student records. Programs, courses and batches are modelled the way your registrar describes them, not the way the demo data does. Fee categories map to real accounts, so the finance office is not reconciling by hand at the end of term. Assessment and attendance are configured before anyone is enrolled. And the migration brings existing students, guardians and balances across as records rather than as an import somebody has to check line by line.
Applicants arrive as Student Applicant records through an admission form built to match your process and the fields your accreditor asks for. Approving one creates the Student with the biographical data carried across. The Program Enrollment Tool then admits a whole cohort in a single operation, which is the difference between an afternoon and a fortnight when four hundred students arrive in the same week.
A Program holds Courses, and Courses hold Topics. Student Groups are the working unit for teaching, and the creation tool builds them from existing enrolments by batch, by course or by activity. Group strategy is worth settling early, because attendance and grading both key off it.
Course Schedules carry the day, the time, the date range, the room, the instructor and the academic term, and the scheduling tool generates a full term in one pass. Rooms and Instructors are proper records, so a clash is visible rather than discovered on the first Monday. The attendance tool marks an entire group against a scheduled class in one screen.
Assessment Plans set what is assessed and when. Criteria break a subject into the components you grade against, and a Grading Scale maps score ranges to letters so the grade is derived rather than typed. Configure the scale once and the rounding argument stops happening.
Fee Categories combine into a Fee Structure for a program and academic year, and a Fee Schedule bills at whatever cadence you run, monthly, quarterly, term-wise or annual. Assigned fees generate invoices against your chart of accounts, so payments and part payments move the ledger as they happen. This is usually the line item that pays for the project.
Students see their courses, timetable, attendance, grades and fee position, apply for leave and download invoices. Guardians link to their students with the relationship recorded, and a parent with two children at the institution sees both from one login. Families judge the whole system by this screen, so we style it to your institution rather than leaving it default.

Most institutions arrive here from a student information system billed per student, sitting beside a separate accounting package and a payroll system that shares nothing with either. Who This Is Built For
There is a boundary worth naming. This runs an institution: admissions, enrolment, attendance, grading and fees. If what you actually want is to deliver and sell courses online, with lessons, quizzes and certificates, that is a different application and a different project. A single tutor with thirty students needs neither of them.
How the Implementation Runs

We map your academic years, terms, programs and courses, then look hard at your existing student, guardian, enrolment and fee data. Semesters, trimesters and rolling intakes each need a different shape, and this is the decision that is expensive to reverse later. We build the fee categories, structures and schedules, set the grading scales, configure the portal and connect a payment gateway that works in your country. Then your data is loaded and we reconcile student counts and outstanding balances with your bursar before anybody signs off.

We cut over between an academic year closing and the next enrolment opening, then run the first term rollover alongside your registrar instead of handing them a manual. Training is split by role, because an instructor and a bursar need different halves of the system.
