Zoho Catalyst can run the custom half of your business, the parts no packaged app covers, once somebody writes the functions, wires the integrations, and watches what it all consumes. That part is a job. Our managed Zoho Catalyst services handle it on a flat monthly rate: serverless functions built and deployed, applications hosted on AppSail, data stores designed properly, and usage tracked so a busy month does not become a surprise bill.

Code that keeps running
Serverless code is cheap to write and expensive to inherit. A Catalyst function is a few hundred lines that quietly becomes load-bearing, and on the day the API it depends on changes version, the person who wrote it is usually somewhere else. None of that is unusual. It is simply what happens to custom code nobody was assigned to keep.
Custom code is a liability you have taken on deliberately, so it should be held to the standards that make it survivable. What a function does and why it exists is written down before it ships. Dependencies and API versions are tracked, so a deprecation becomes scheduled work rather than an outage. Errors surface as alerts rather than as log entries nobody opens. Releases are versioned so a bad one can be rolled back in minutes. And the code stays readable enough that somebody other than its author can change it.
A serverless function rarely fails loudly. It fails on one record in a thousand, retries, gives up, and nobody notices until finance asks why a month of orders is short. We monitor invocations, errors, and execution time, so the problem surfaces while it is still a small problem.
Deploying straight to production from a laptop works right up until the day it does not. We run builds through a pipeline with versioned releases and a separate development environment, so a bad change gets caught before your customers meet it, and reversing one takes minutes rather than a rewrite.
Deluge handles a lot inside the packaged apps. The awkward cases need more room: long running jobs, a real database, a customer portal, or logic that talks to systems Zoho has never heard of. We build those as Catalyst functions and applications, so an unusual requirement stops living as a permanent workaround.
Custom software becomes a liability the moment nobody understands it. We keep functions small, name things plainly, and document what each piece does and what it connects to. If you bring the work in house later, your team inherits something readable instead of a puzzle.
Everything we build lives inside your own Catalyst project, under your ownership. If you ever change providers, the functions, data store, files, and deployment history stay exactly where they are. Nothing sits in an agency account, so there is no export to negotiate and no leverage held over you.
Catalyst bills on what you consume, so one inefficient function becomes a charge that repeats every month. We track invocations, compute time, and storage against your plan, find what is driving the number, and tell you before the trend turns into an invoice you have to explain.
Why teams stop doing this in-house
A freelancer can build you a function and invoice for it. Keeping that code running as APIs change, staff leave, and your volume grows is a different job, and it is the one that decides whether your custom build is still an asset a year from now. Here is how the two approaches compare.

Every tweak means a fresh quote and a wait for availability when you are billing hourly, which quietly discourages you from asking. Under a subscription, you tell us what needs changing and we build it. Work inside your monthly allowance is simply part of the service.
One contractor holding all the context is a risk you only notice the week they stop replying. We work as a team, document as we build, and keep your project structured so somebody else can pick it up. Your business does not depend on one person's memory.
Most providers quote a rebuild because it is easier than reading someone else's work. We audit what exists, map the functions and their triggers, review the schema, and tell you honestly which pieces are worth keeping and which should be rebuilt clean.
Keys pasted into source code and shared logins are how a small project becomes an incident. We move secrets into proper environment configuration, set roles so building and deploying sit with different people, and rotate access when somebody leaves.
A developer hired for one build has no reason to look at what else you run. We manage the wider Zoho ecosystem, so when your custom requirement is really a CRM configuration problem, we say so, and we flag when Zoho One costs less than adding apps one by one.
Hourly work makes every busy month an unpleasant invoice, which quietly discourages you from asking for things. A flat monthly rate makes the cost predictable and puts the incentive on us to keep your build efficient rather than to accumulate billable hours.
Built for teams that outgrew the defaults
Catalyst earns its keep when the standard apps almost do what you need and the gap is costing you real time. If your team keeps rebuilding the same export by hand, or a workflow keeps failing because Deluge was never meant to carry it, this is usually the fix.

How we work with you
Whether you are starting from an empty project or inheriting code somebody else wrote, the sequence is the same. We work out what needs to exist and why, set up the project and environments properly, then build in stages and keep the result running. You see something working within weeks rather than at the end of a quarter.
1
We start with a consultation about the process you are trying to fix, what it touches, and what happens today when it fails. Then we look at whether Catalyst is genuinely the right place for it, because sometimes the answer is a configuration change in an app you already own. If the idea is going to be expensive, this is where you find out.
2
We create the Catalyst project, separate development from production, design the data store schema, and set up authentication and secrets properly. Then we build one meaningful piece end to end and deploy it. Getting the schema and the environments right early is far cheaper than migrating a live data store six months in.
3
We build the remaining functions and integrations, wire up the release pipeline, and put it into production. From there it stays managed. Logs get watched, failures get acted on, consumption gets reviewed against your plan, and new requirements get built and deployed as you need them.

Running more than one Zoho app? The Zoho One bundle covers every app under one monthly plan instead of stacking separate app subscriptions on top of each other. CRM, Books, Desk, Projects, Catalyst, and the rest get managed together for less than four individual app plans, which is where most multi-app teams end up.
